White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt on Wednesday said the six U.S. soldiers killed in Iranian drone strikes will receive a dignified transfer.

“President Trump intends to attend the dignified transfer of these American heroes to stand in grief alongside their families,” she said during the White House press briefing.

The Army has publicly identified four of the six deceased soldiers as Sgt. 1st Class Nicole Amor of White Bear Lake, Minn.; Capt. Cody Khork of Lakeland, Fla.; Sgt. 1st Class Noah Tietjens of Bellevue, Neb.; and Sgt. Declan Coady of Des Moines, Iowa.

The service members, who CBS News reported were killed in a make-shift office space at a civilian port in Kuwait, will be transported to the United States at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware.

Sean Parnell, the Pentagon’s chief spokesperson, described the site as a “secure facility fortified with 6-foot walls,” in a Tuesday post on social platform X.

Leavitt was also asked about Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s comments earlier in the day criticizing the media for making the death of service members front-page news.

CNN’s Kaitlan Collins said, “Secretary Hegsethth was complaining that it was front-page news about these six servicemembers who were killed.”

Leavitt responded, “That’s not what the Secretary said, Kaitlan, and that’s not what the Secretary meant, and you know it. You know you’re being disingenuous.”

Leavitt continued, “There is not — we’ve never had a Secretary of Defense who cares more.”

Collins read out Hegseth’s comments from a Wednesday morning press briefing, “When drones get through, when tragic things happen, it’s front-page news! I get it, the press only wants to make the President look bad.”

“As you know, we cover the debts of U.S. servicemembers under every president,” Collins added.

“The press does only want to make the President look bad. That’s a fact,” Leavitt responded, adding, “especially you, and especially CNN.”

Senate rejects war powers bill to halt attacks against Iran

Major developments we’re following:

U.S. Senate Republicans rejected a bill to halt the war against Iran in an early show of support for Trump’s campaign. The resolution, which failed 47-53, demanded congressional approval before any further attacks. A twin bill in the House also faces an unlikely path against a GOP majority when lawmakers vote on it Thursday morning.

Operation Epic Fury survives Senate challenge as Republicans close ranks behind Trump

Tim Kaine's war powers resolution fails

Senate Republicans closed ranks Wednesday, handing President Donald Trump a win on his use of force in Iran, despite lingering questions about America’s involvement in the Middle East.

The Senate shot down a resolution from Sen. Tim Kaine, D-Va., aimed at limiting Trump’s military actions in Iran on Wednesday, following days of speculation about whether Republicans would cross the aisle — as they have done before — to reprimand the president.

The war powers resolution, failed on a 47-53 vote tally. The vote fell mostly along party lines, though Republican Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky voted in favor and Democratic Sen. John Fetterman of Pennsylvania voted against.

Rand is an ass.

The Senate rejected the war powers resolution to force the U.S. to cease operations in Iran in the middle of active combat. Only one Democrat, Sen. Fetterman, voted against the resolution despite some of these same senators supporting Obama in unilateral attacks on Libya...

Maher: I Don’t Hate Iran War, I Will if We Put Boots on Ground

During his opening monologue on Friday’s broadcast of HBO’s “Real Time,” host Bill Maher said that if President Donald Trump “puts boots on the ground, yeah, then I’ll hate it. Now, I know too many happy Iranian Americans. Sorry. And you cannot name one horrible thing that has happened in the Middle East in the last 50 years and not connect it to this fascist theocracy.”

Maher: Iran Kept Whole Region Down, Liberals Don’t Get Liberation

On Friday’s broadcast of HBO’s “Real Time,” host Bill Maher said that he has cautious optimism about Operation Epic Fury and “I just don’t get what liberals don’t get about liberation.” He also stated that Iran “was a fascist theocracy, and nothing in the Middle East was ever going to get better while they were still there f*cking everything up.”

Maher said, “I just want to reiterate what I said in the monologue, I’m cautiously optimistic, unless he puts boots on the ground, then he’s going to lose me. We’ll see, for now. I just don’t get what liberals don’t get about liberation. I see so much happiness. I see it in Venezuela. I see it here in Iran. Could we skip the part where we talk about, oh, they had so many different reasons for going to war, regime change and we’ve got to get rid of the nukes and they were supporters of terrorism? It’s all of it. How about this? This was a fascist theocracy, and nothing in the Middle East was ever going to get better while they were still there f*cking everything up.”

He added that Congress should assert its power again.

Schiff Denounces Obama’s Libya Justification When He Thinks It’s Trump’s Iran Justification

Ian Hanchett 7 Mar 2026

On Friday’s broadcast of HBO’s “Real Time,” Sen. Adam Schiff (D-CA) denounced as “Totally vague” a statement that he thought was the rationale used by the Trump administration to justify force in Iran when it was actually the statement used by the Obama administration to justify force in Libya.

Host Bill Maher said, “So, this statement from the administration, ‘The President had the constitutional authority to direct the use of military force…because he could reasonably determine that such use of force was in the national interest.’ That’s too vague for you?”

Schiff answered, “Totally vague.”

Maher then said, “Okay, because that’s from Obama about Libya.”

Schiff responded, “Well, Obama made the argument, initially, that he could go into Syria without an authorization. I, and many others, pushed back on that argument. Ultimately, he did not go forward with going after Assad, even though Assad was gassing his own people, because he thought he might lose the vote in Congress. But I respect the fact that that was important to him, and the fact that he did not have the support of Congress meant that we weren’t going to go forward. We are unquestionably at war now. The founders made an extraordinary decision at the time, which was not to give that power to the president, but to give it to the Congress, because they worried, I think, as Hamilton said, that a president would grow too fond of making war. After Venezuela, after the earlier Iran conflict, after bombing Nigeria and Iraq and Syria, he’s grown too fond of this. And Congress…needs to step up, assert its role, or it’s going to be gone for good. And then, any time a president, for any reason, anywhere in the world, for any length of time, will feel free to make war, and that would be hugely dangerous for the country.”

Maher added that war should be voted on by Congress, but going around Congress on war has been going on for a while.
