Colin Gray, the father of alleged school shooter Colt Gray, was found guilty of murder on Tuesday in relation to the Sept. 4, 2024, shooting that killed four people and injured nine others at Apalachee High School near Winder, Georgia.

The jury deliberated for a few hours. Their verdict comes after two weeks of testimony in which prosecutors argued that Colin Gray, the 55-year-old father of Colt Gray — who was 14 when he shot and killed multiple students and teachers at his school — should be held responsible for the shooting because he bought his son an AR-style rifle despite knowing he had violent tendencies and that his mental health was deteriorating. Colin Gray was found guilty of all charges, which included second-degree murder, involuntary manslaughter and cruelty to children.
 
Colin Gray now faces up to 180 years in prison on charges of murder in the second degree and involuntary manslaughter.

During closing arguments Monday, Patricia Brooks, the Barrow County assistant district attorney, described the father as a “narcissist” who created a facade that he was a good parent. She argued that he bought his son a rifle, lied about taking him to counseling, and purposely ignored warning signs, like Colt Gray’s past threat to shoot up a school and his bedroom shrine dedicated to school shooters.

“We already live in a world where our teachers, our students, our law enforcement officers have to train for the possibility of an active shooter coming to their school,” Brooks said Monday during her closing arguments. “It’s preposterous to say that they are the ones to blame for what happened on Sept. 4.”

Note that the father actually bought the gun for his son, knowing his son had mental issues and violent tendencies - that's reckless criminal behavior

Most parents of gangbangers (in most cases only Moms, no Dad around) rarely see their kids, and probably can't afford to buy them their guns anyway

Why not charge the Judges who keep releasing known rapists and murderers dozens of times until eventually their crimes are so bloody and horrific that the Judges are 'forced' to sentence them.

I  agree. While some of the responsibility is his, he did not pull a trigger.

I can see where the court wanted to make a point, but this seems excessive to me.

This is like the TV show "Law and Order" and the type of justice the fictional Jack McCoy advocated: laying blame for the murder on just about everyone else (usually a gun manufacturer or someone who said something that may have influenced the perpetrator to contemplate murder in the first place).

I disagree. The tranny in question here, Colt Gray, was denied mental health care quite frankly because none of the professionals wanted to risk their careers by providing treatment to a tranny. His father's attempts to get health care for the (boy?) also failed because of these same therapists and their aversion to getting involved with a tranny.

See, the Official Leftist Narrative™ is that there is nothing wrong with trannies. And they will aggressively persecute and even prosecute any licensed therapist who dares to do anything contrary to that narrative.

Saying that Colt Gray was mentally ill would have been HERESY!!! to the leftist cult.

The only option left here is to blame the father after the fact for letting his child have access to a firearm when before the fact these same prosecutors would have persecuted the father for denying the child access under the pretense that a tranny is just the same as any other fourteen year old.

I hope that this unjust conviction gets tossed on appeal. It should be.
