Iran’s FM Abbas Araghchi said Tehran had not built missiles capable of reaching the US mainland.

He reiterated that Iran had limited its missile range to 2,000 km and described the program as “defensive in nature.”

This was before the strikes took place in the country.

I learned the lessons of the Iraq war while working in the Bush Administration. Serious diplomacy is always the priority for me.

I know Donald Trump and he wanted diplomacy to work in order to protect Americans and stop this constant Iranian threat. We’ve been in a generational cycle of terror and violence with the Iranian Regime planning and paying for the killing of Americans through their many proxy groups.

Multiple U.S. Presidents were duped by the Iranian Regime and ended up *giving* them billions of dollars in cash, credit and sanctions relief. Their naive diplomacy fueled the Regime’s continued violence - with enough money to keep doing it for decades.

Donald Trump is rightly focused on protecting Americans from this Regime. If there’s one thing we know about our President it is that his credible threats should be taken seriously - he said he wanted to solve this issue peacefully but would take action if necessary.
He was very clear.

I am thankful we have a President who takes the time to launch serious diplomatic efforts before making the hard and necessary decisions to protect Americans.

Leaving aside all the specifics of Venezuela and Iran, there is a distinct pattern here. President Trump has decided he is going to fix as many of these problems as possible instead of kicking the can down the road the way most, if not all, of his predecessors and Western leaders generally have.
