House Dems to force vote to block Trump from waging war on Iran

WASHINGTON — House Democratic leaders vowed to force a vote on a war powers resolution to stop President Trump from launching an attack on Iran without Congressional approval.

The vote will take place next week when the House gavels back into session from recess and comes amid Trump’s massive military build-up near Iran during negotiations with Tehran over its nuclear program.

“The Iranian regime is brutal and destabilizing, seen most recently in the killing of thousands of protestors,” top House Democrats said in a joint statement. “Undertaking a war of choice in the Middle East, without a full understanding of all the attendant risks to our servicemembers and to escalation, is reckless.”

Here is some relevant background for those who are interested:

  • The Quincy Institute for Responsible Statecraft is a non-interventionist foreign policy advocacy organization founded in 2019 with support from two major political donors, left-of-center George Soros and libertarian Charles Koch.
  • George Soros and Charles Koch each provided $500,000 in initial funding for the think tank. Approximately $800,000 was provided by other donors.
  • In December 2020, the Quincy Institute for Responsible Statecraft joined a coalition of a dozen left-of-center groups to send the then-incoming Biden administration a list of 100 candidates recommended for senior posts. Quincy Institute co-founder Trita Parsi was recommended to oversee Middle East affairs for the National Security Council.
  • Parsi was the founder and leader of NIAC for 16 years, an organization that was the focus of a January 2020 letter from Sens. Ted Cruz (R-TX), Tom Cotton (R-AR), and Mike Braun (R-IN) to the U.S. attorney general asking for an investigation into potential Foreign Agents Registration Act violations by NIAC. “NIAC’s relationship with the Iranian regime and its role amplifying regime propaganda in the United States have been the subject of discussion in Washington D.C. for years,” the senators wrote.

  • Outquote: “In the Quincy echo chamber, everyone agrees that Israel is a problem and that the Abraham Accords are bad,” he (Dominic Green) writes. “The goal is to spin first the media and then public opinion towards agreeing that a nuclear Iran is a great idea. If that’s responsible statecraft, then Trita Parsi has a civilian-use nuclear program to sell you.”
"If all men are created equal, that is final. If they are endowed with inalienable rights, that is final. If governments derive their just powers from the consent of the governed, that is final. No advance, no progress can be made beyond these propositions. If anyone wishes to deny their truth or their soundness, the only direction in which he can proceed historically is not forward, but backward toward the time when there was no equality, no rights of the individual, no rule of the people."    -Calvin Coolidge

Institutes, Foundations, PAC's, SuperPAC's, and LLC's are reputation and opinion laundering devices for rich cowards or foreign influence.

You can judge the integrity of an organization by whom their donors are ... many times abstracted by layers of shell corporations, foundations, and institutes.
