Pakistan declares 'open war' against Afghanistan as massive explosions rock capital Kabul

Pakistan has declared "open war" against Afghanistan and has launched airstrikes on its capital city Kabul.

Pakistan's Defence Minister Khawaja Asif said early on Friday the country had made every effort to avoid conflict - but its patience had "run out".

"Now there is an open war," Mr Asif said.

The Taliban, which runs Afghanistan, said in response: "The cowardly Pakistani military has carried out airstrikes in certain areas of Kabul, Kandahar, and Paktia."

Pakistan says 133 Taliban fighters were confirmed dead in its strikes, with an additional 200 wounded.

Spokesman Mosharraf Zaidi added that there would be many more casualties after strikes on Kabul, Paktia and Kandahar military targets.

Mr Zaidi also claimed 27 Afghan Taliban posts had been destroyed, with nine captured.

He said military targets destroyed included two corps headquarters, three brigade headquarters, two ammunition depots, one logistics base, three battalion headquarters and two sector headquarters.  .  .  .

I'm inclined to agree.  As bitter as the disagreement is between the two shithole countries, I don't think the Pakies are willing to bring down global condemnation on themselves.  If the Afghans were similarly armed, the Taliban wouldn't think twice about nuking Pakistan.

What were/are the Talibanders thinking in attacking Pakistan? Their captured US and legacy equipment isn't anywhere near a match for Pakistan's military.

Pakistan has about 5 times the population of Afghanistan. Unlike other Afghan wars, Pakistan has a common border and direct supply lines and they know the geography.

That is correct, and I hope by now they know it's a useless weapon when a shooting war starts.  If they haven't learned that, parts of Afghanistan will end up as glass with no guarantee of victory for the Paks.

I agree with MeganC.  If Pakistan is going to war with Afghanistan, then they must kill every last one of them, otherwise they will keep on coming and destroy Pakistan.

And contrary to others on this site, I support Pakistan in using any and all weapons they have to destroy Afghanistan.  Afghanistan remains an epicenter for terrorists to shelter and operate from against the civilized world.

I fully support the complete destruction of state entities that are dedicated to terrorist activities.  What George Bush did in dealing with Afghanistan was criminally negligent.  Americans lost their lives because of his gross incompetence.  Without putting one boot on the ground, we had the ability to completely destroy every blade of grass in Afghanistan.  Hw was a fool. 

Hopefully, we will not interfere with Pakistan's efforts to end the scourge of Afghanistan on THEIR BORDER.

Yes but I read a good 20 years ago that the Pakis have very nominal control ever the NW third of their country. I doubt that has changed.

The British Raj also had a border with Afghanistam, and the Brits couldn't conquer it.  The Russians tried to conquer it.  America attempted to nation build there, and failed.

Pakistan only has nominal control over its Northwest Frontier territories that border Afghanistan.  They are ethnically Pashtun, not Punjabi.

Only after Obama took office.  Nation-building was never part of the equation under Bush.  Minimal deployment with one purpose:  preventing the Taliban from taking over again.  All that ended when Obama arrived on the scene.  And our casualties tripled.

Let's face it, we had the three of the worst presidents in our history follow one another, with the exception of Trump's first term.  With George Bush, I thought he was the worst POTUS ever.  Then came Obama, and I knew he would be a disaster the moment the Dems selected him as their candidate.  And he proved me right.  He was even worse than Bush.  Americans got a breath of air with the 1st Trump term, but we went right to the bottom of the swamp suffocating with the Biden Idiocracy, the single worst POTUS in US history, by light years!!!

Why the Democommie Party still exists is a total mystery to me.  I suppose there are just too many morons like Robert DeNiro roaming around to ever end these cretins.  Even Bill Mahr has begun to verbalize just how lunatic the Dems have become, and he was one of their staunchest supporters.

The Dems have no leader.  While Kamala Harris should be that placeholder, she is devoid of ANY intelligence that she has left a vaccuum for power.  And Biden's dead from the neck up presidency didn't help matters any either.  In fact, the party has been without a leader for five plus years.

And watching the idiots vie for power is absolutely laughable. Gavin Newsom thinks he is the one to fill that void, but he has implemted some of the dumbest policies in California history.  This turd has managed to float and remain in play for years beyond his expiration date.  So, who will rise up to lead the Dems?  AOC?  No way!  The governors of Michigan, Illinois, or Pennsylvania?  Maybe, but I think they are all longshots.  It has to be someone that is not well known to the nation.  They need another Jimmy Carter, someone with no visible national presence that can rise up and take the reins and hopefully not muck up everything he/she touches like Carter did.

I say the power brokers will pick someone like Gov Brashear.  He is relatively unknown and if the power brokers get behind him, he will be the one to rise up.  It has to be someone NOT tied to the lunacy that has controlled the party for the many years since Obama took office in January, 2009.

However, with the great years ahead with the Trump 2nd term, they lose anyway!

I doubt Pennsylvania Governor Shapiro will get any traction because too many Democrats have a "Jew problem."
