I think my favorite part of the night was when Usha Vance was introduced and JD popped up on his feet in a split nanosecond.   

One of my favorites, too @Polly Ticks   I think she works quite hard, traveling (with 3 kids), meeting and greeting and supporting JD  ---- with precious little notice or appreciation.  So, I was also glad she received a compliment for her suit worn at the SOTU ----

Melania Trump's mission for the evening seemed simple: To blend in with the sea of men in near-identical grey suits. At the State of the Union address on February 24, 2026, the First Lady of the United States wore a gray Dolce and Gabbana pantsuit with a crisp, open-collared white button-down shirt, and Manolo Blahnik heels. The look was simple but super boring.

The former model could've gone for something more elevated like Usha Vance's outfit — a chic satin blazer paired with matching black trousers. Now that's how you rock a power suit.

It's a split.  Part paid by seller.  Part paid by buyer.  The portion line is dependent upon the demand curve equation.  Higher demand, the purchaser picks up more of the tariff.  Lower demand, the seller picks up more.

The point here is that Jeffries couldn't come up with it.  He simply blurts out whatever pops up in his head without being able to think his way through it.

What I hope Melania and the Trump family don't repeat -- ever -- is push the Second Lady out of the front row.  Protocol calls for the front row to be reserved for both spouses and their guests, with the President's spouse arriving last and sitting on the aisle.

But, Melania insisted Barron sit next to her --  choosing to disrespect the wife of the Vice President to keep her 20 year old baby boy close.

For someone who punched their ticket at Langley, she doesn't know sh*t about BRIC nations. But then, she just deprived career agents of slots in very expensive training programs so she could get her ticket punched, so she didn't really need to pay attention.

Those kind of ceremonies aren't about the TV coverage...which IMO should have every TV network covering them.

I get what you are saying, in that the recognition by their fellow service members means far more than even the slightest hint of feeling like a political prop, something which might call doubt on well earned awards.
 
Those of us who check things out realize that maintaining yaw control on a Chinook (what the pedals are for) with one leg badly wounded in order to turn the helo to bring guns to bear and then land safely required determination and grit many would have trouble mustering while seriously injured.
That said, those of us who understand the acts taken, skill, and good fortune to be living recipients of the MoH thoroughly respect that the medals were earned (as was the Legion of Merit), and the audience to those awards was likely far larger than it would have been if this had been done independent of the SOTU.
 
If I had to pick a theme for Trump's speech, it would be that Americans, through determination, grit, perseverance, and sacrifice, can fix what can be humanly fixed that is wrong with America, and exposed those who did not seem interested in working for the benefit of us all. Their recognition fit hand in glove with that.

But yes, I also get that it would be more proper to make the awards in a ceremony dedicated to just that, rather than as a seeming sidebar to the SOTU.

Severe damage to enrichment facilities, but enriched (not believed to be weapons grade) Uranium was believed to have been removed from the facilities. (IIRC, about 200 Kilos). Further enrichment, even on a small scale could yield weapons grade material to make bombs.

If you watched any of Trump's SOTU, you likely saw both Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib acting like the unhinged, hate-filled, crazed hyenas they really are. And while we're not at all surprised to find out what Tlaib (and likely Omar as well) was chanting while other elected officials chanted USA, we can't help but wonder if these two awful broads will suffer any sort of consequences for their actions.

We know. None of you is surprised by this.

When does Johnson get around to censuring her? And Omar? It's shocking that there don't seem to be any consequences for representatives acting this way during the SOTU. Far too many of them have forgotten they are there to represent their constituents, not themselves.

Then again, this was the same thing for all the a-hole Democrats who bailed; they forgot their actual jobs.

My feathers aren't even slightly ruffled, thanks. It takes quite a bit more than someone spouting off a baseless theory about a political figure to disturb me. 

Melania is not my hero by any stretch of the imagination. I have no reason to believe that she is some Machiavellian shrew, either, but you are obviously welcome to your own opinions. Having said that, I am not required to pretend that those opinions are facts.
