House Rushing To Accommodate US Men’s, Women’s Hockey Teams At State Of The Union, Speaker Johnson Says

Officials in the House of Representatives are rushing in an attempt to host both the United States men’s and women’s hockey teams Tuesday at the State of the Union address, doing so fresh off their gold-medal winning journeys at the 2026 Winter Olympics, according to Speaker Mike Johnson who revealed the plans Monday.

While speaking with the media, Johnson said that he’s sorting everything to “figure out logistics” for a possible appearance from the squads, per Politico. Both were sent invitations from the White House.

“There’s no way to have special guests on the floor because it’s a literal session of Congress,” said Johnson. “But we’re going to work and do what we can to accommodate.”

Johnson also said officials in the House are “trying to work out logistics to see if there’s some way to perhaps get them into the gallery and the doors, wave and receive the applause that they’re due,” per Politico.

No announcement has been made by the men’s team in regards to attending the State of the Union. However, President Donald Trump personally sent an invitation to them shortly after their overtime victory Sunday over Canada. He offered to provide a military jet to transport them to Washington, D.C.

Democrats prepare to protest Trump State of the Union: What to know

Democrats are preparing a show of defiance during President Trump’s State of the Union address on Tuesday, with some skipping the speech entirely, others attending counter-events and many bringing guests to highlight the real-world impact of the administration’s policies.

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) has strictly advised his caucus to either attend the address in “silent defiance” or take part in alternative programming.

Even so, Democrats are expected to sharply criticize the administration at events before, during and after the address. And it’s unclear whether any rank-and-file members plan to defy Jeffries’ directive.

Here’s what to know about Democratic protests during Trump’s State of the Union.

Democrats target Trump with counter event blitz

Several Democrats are opting to skip Trump’s speech and instead head to a counterrally, dubbed the “People’s State of the Union,” which will begin around 8 p.m. on the National Mall. The event is hosted by liberal activist groups, including MoveOn Civic Action, and will feature “everyday Americans most impacted by Trump’s dangerous agenda.”

Some of the Democratic attendees include Sens. Ed Markey (D-Mass.), Jeff Merkley (D-Ore.), Chris Murphy (D-Conn.), Tina Smith (D-Minn.), Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) and Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.), as well as Reps. Yassamin Ansari (D-Ariz.), Becca Balint (D-Vt.), Greg Casar (D-Texas), Veronica Escobar (D-Texas), Pramila Jayapal (D-Wash.), Delia Ramirez (D-Ill.), Bonnie Watson Coleman (D-N.J.), John Larson (D-Conn.) and April Delaney (D-Md.).

Other Democrats will be attending a different counter event called the “State of the Swamp” at the National Press Club that will start shortly before Trump’s speech. Some lawmakers are considering attending the event for a brief period and then attending the State of the Union afterwards.

Reps. Jason Crow (D-Colo.) and Seth Moulton (D-Mass.), for instance, will be attending the State of the Swamp event and the State of the Union, according to their offices.

Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) will only be attending the State of the Swamp event and skipping Trump’s address, according to his office.

 Melania Trump to host stand-out young women as guests for the State of the Union address

WASHINGTON – Melania Trump will host two young women in her guest box for Tuesday’s State of the Union address who represent the issues she champions as first lady.

Seated with her in the House chamber will be Sierra Burns, 24, who was a beneficiary of Trump’s Foster Youth to Independence program, and Everest Nevraumont, a 10-year-old student from Austin, Texas, who attends Alpha School, which offers a hybrid learning curriculum that includes AI.

The two issues are a signature part of Trump’s platform. She is leading the Presidential AI Challenge and has been a longtime advocate for foster children, an issue that is particularly close to her heart.

“Fostering the Future has positioned the first lady as a leader as it relates to empowering children with education and technology,” a source close to her told The Post.

Both young women are accomplished in their own right.

Donald Trump's highly-anticipated State of the Union address is facing a sinister sabotage plot from top Democrats.

Dozens of lawmakers are set to boycott the speech at the Capitol with counter events, including parading Jeffrey Epstein victims on the National Mall.

Others are threatening to stage walk-outs during Trump's speech as he prepares to reset his agenda in a crunch speech at 9pm Tuesday as he stares down the barrel of disastrous poll numbers ahead of the midterms in November.

Two counter-programming are planned in Washington, DC, the 'State of the Swamp' which will take place at 7pm at the National Press Club, with lawmakers and media stars scheduled to speak, and activists encouraged to wear swampy frog costumes.

Progressive attendees include the fiery mayors of Minneapolis and Chicago, Jacob Frey and Brandon Johnson, who have frequently clashed with Trump over his deadly immigration crackdown.

A second event, the 'People's State of the Union,' will start at 8pm on the National Mall, including Trump nemesis Adam 'Shifty' Schiff of California.

Democratic Rep. Ro Khanna, who has spearheaded the pressure campaign to release the Epstein files, will bring one of the pedophile's victims Haley Robson as his guest.

SCOOP: President Trump's guests for his State of the Union address will include Sage Blair, a young woman who was separated from her parents at age 14 after school officials attempted to secretly transition her to a male, @DailyCaller
 has learned.

Blair, who is now reunited with her parents and attending Liberty University, will be joined by her mom, Michele.

The president will use the story to call on states to ban sex transitioning operations for minors.
