Balanced Budget Testimony Irks Gov

This week Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-Fla) testified in the Kentucky House of Representatives on behalf of a resolution of the states asking Congress to submit a balanced budget amendment to the US Constitution to the states for ratification. This inspired Gov. Andy Beshear (D-Ky) to identify DeSantis as the worst governor in the country in response to a question by Jon Stewart on "The Daily Show."

"First of all, the very idea of another governor barging into my state in an effort to get them to approve something I don't support is intrusive," Beshear explained. "Second, forcing the federal government to adopt a balanced budget as a matter of policy is a bad idea. The feds have the power to create money. Why shouldn't they use that power rather than limiting their spending to stay within the revenues they collect from taxes? Voters don't like the idea of having to pay more taxes. Borrowing money to fund expenditures defers the burden to future generations, people too young to vote now or even not yet born."

DeSantis asserted that "during the pandemic, Gov. Beshear sent State Police to try to block people from worshipping on Easter Sunday. He's also an enthusiastic advocate for genital mutilations of minors and allowing biological men to compete against biological women in sports, invade female spaces like locker rooms and lavatories. Being called the 'worst' by him is a badge of honor."

In related news, state Auditor Allison Ball called Beshears' $46 million in advertising and out-of-state travel costs "lavish spending on the taxpayer's dime. The governor tried to brush off our findings as a 'political attack,' but failed to address all of the most concerning expenditures we testified about, and he has provided no proof to support his assertions."

Dems' Demonic Policies Towards Children

An effort to bring some mercy to infants who survive their attempted abortion was shot down by Oregon Democrats. Rep. Court Boice's (R-District 1) motion to bring HB 4087, the "Born Alive Infants Protection Act," to the full House out of the Committee on Health Care was voted down with 34 Democrats voting no and 22 Republicans voting yes. The decision came after testimony from abortion survivor Amy Miles.

Rep. Cyrus Javadi (D-District 32), a former Republican who previously sponsored the same legislation, explained "since the intent of the abortion is to terminate the life of the unwanted child, it makes no sense to thwart the objective by enabling the aborted infant to survive. Carving out a 'right-to-life' for a person not meant to live through the surgery impedes the mother's right to choose whether her baby is born or killed. Letting the baby die of neglect is a more merciful end than letting an unwanted child live. As a 'born again' Democrat, I can no longer support such a vile and incoherent bill."

Oregon Right to Life Executive Director Lois Anderson called the Democrats' position "legally endorsed cruelty. A baby who survives an attempt on her life shows a resilience that warrants life-sustaining measures by the medical personal who have an oath to do no harm. Defining required standards of care for abortion survivors should be a common ground position for all reasonable people, even if they do not identify themselves as pro-life."

Meanwhile in Minnesota, State Rep. Leigh Finke (D-District 66A) says that "kids who are uncertain of their gender identity need to have access to pornography to help them decide whether to transition to the opposite sex. I know my own transition from male to female would've been less stressful if I had had the opportunity to see real sex acts rather than have had to rely on my immature imagination. That's not to say that I'm displeased in anyway with my choice. All I'm asking is for the age requirements for visiting porn sites to be eliminated."

Virginia Democrats Want to "Restore Fairness"

Democrats in the state legislature are proposing a constitutional amendment that would allow the Virginia General Assembly to redraw congressional districts outside of the normal 10-year redistricting process. Virginia's Democratic Senate Majority Leader Scott Surovell complained that "the current split of six Democrats and five Republicans representing our state in the US House of Representatives is unfair. Democrats are the majority in our state. We should have as many Democrats as possible elected to Congress."

The redistricted map that Democrats have presented gives them Democrat-voter majorities in ten of the eleven Congressional districts. A Tazewell Circuit Court, has issued a temporary restraining order requested by the Republican National Committee (RNC) and the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC). The plaintiffs argue that the ballot referendum's timing and phrasing are illegal.

NRCC Chairman Rep. Richard Hudson (R-NC) pointed out that "registered voters who are Democrats account for only 52% of of total registered voters. The other 48% are not Democrats. The ten Democrats to one non-Democrat ratio they are seeking would mean 90% of the members of Congress from Virginia would be Democrats. This is too far out of line to be called 'restoring fairness.'"

Surovell countered saying "for most of America's 200+ years of history all of Virginia's representatives in Congress have been Democrats. By this standard, the current 6-5 split is an anomaly. I have no qualms asserting that returning to the long-term the historical balance would represent a restoration of fairness. We just need to have the court step aside and let us do what's right for our state."

In other Virginia news, Sen. Saddam Azlan Salim (D-District 37) has introduced a bill (SB 624) aimed at outlawing Islamophobia. It would modify existing hate-crime law by adding (including Islam) to each section. "My inspiration came to me after I read the law and found that it did not specifically mention Islam anywhere in the text," he observed. Neither is any other specific religion mentioned. However, the Senator pointed out "there is no other true religion but Islam. False religions do not deserve any protection. They deserve to be eliminated."

Child Transgender Liability

The delusion that a person can change his or her sex through drugs and surgery is now facing significant financial risk as the juvenile victims of this medical scam are pursuing damages for what was done to them. In New York, a now 22-year-old woman has won a $2 million judgment--$1.6 million in damages and $400,000 for future medical care--against the hospital and doctors who filled her full of puberty blockers since she was 13 and cut off her breasts when she was 16.

President Trump has cut off federal Medicaid and Medicare funding from hospitals that provide so-called "gender-affirming care" to children. Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said "'gender affirming care' is not medicine, it is malpractice. Sex-rejecting procedures rob children of their futures." The US Supreme Court recently upheld a Tennessee law banning these procedures in its state.

Meanwhile, San Diego County Superior Court Judge Matthew Braner ruled that Rady Children's Hospital must continue offering so-called "gender affirming care" to minors, even after the hospital announced it would stop providing such services. "In California it is a person's constitutional right to receive transgender care at public expense," Braner said.

California Attorney General Bonta praised the ruling, saying "Rady flagrantly disregarded its legal obligations by unilaterally deciding to preemptively comply with the Administration's demands and cease medically necessary care for roughly 1,450 patients. We will not allow Rady to violate its obligations to its patients and the State. We will fight to uphold the law and ensure Californians can access gender-affirming care without facing unfair roadblocks."
