Other option of course, is to go ahead a use the nuclear option. Then as long as you’re there anyway, go ahead and stack SCOTUS with TPUSA 30-something justices, redistrict the crao out of the nation, then make redistricting illegal, past the SAVE America Act, restructure the a census by excluding illegals immigrants from counting toward congressional representation, terminate the birthplace citizenship shit, finish the wall and mount gun turrets on it, set two genders into law

Then finally, as a final to the Left, reinstate the 60 vote rule on the way out.

I think there were many reasons why Trump defeated Harris.  The fact that she was dumber than a box of rocks did not hurt his candidacy the least little bit.

The fact that the Dems completely flushed the results of the franchise of free men and women to select their primary candidate, and appointed someone that never received a single vote from anyone did not help their cause any either.

And last but not least, Harris was the cleft foot of the Biden Administration.  Biden will most definitely go down as the worst presidency in our history.  He and his communist goons managed to turn our economy on its head in a matter of months with their horrendous policies.  It could not have been more anti US citizen if he tried.

There are perhaps a dozen people that should spend the rest of their life behind bars that were key players in the Biden Administration.  The man gives new meaning to the expression empty suit.  And the Dems, they should not ever hold the presidency for the next 20 years for the criminal activity that took place under Biden.  But no one will bring them to face justice.  Not going to happen.

And I am fairly certain, Harris plans to run again.  God help us!!!!!!!!

This is the best weed I’ve smoked in a MINUTE!

I haven't taken a toke from the Devil's Herb Garden in over 35 years, but the way things are going these days, I might reconsider my abstinence.

As a general proposition, I think that tariffs suck.

They are a blunt force instrument that usually cause more economic damage than they are meant to remedy. But they do have their utility - as when they are used selectively, and in response to international trading partners who want unfettered access to American markets, but slap U.S. producers with unreasonable costs when our goods are for sale on their streets.

The President does have the power to impose them - as the Supreme Court just recognized - but only in areas where Congress has acted to allow the Executive to impose a tax, albeit an indirect one.

Unfortunately, the Court may have made a bit of a hash of things by further blurring the lines between Executive and Legislative authority. This critical distinction has long been problematic, due (largely) to Congress' propensity to cede power to the Executive Branch because, darn it, they need to keep getting re-elected, and every vote on the record for stuff that they want but you might not... just makes that harder.
"If all men are created equal, that is final. If they are endowed with inalienable rights, that is final. If governments derive their just powers from the consent of the governed, that is final. No advance, no progress can be made beyond these propositions. If anyone wishes to deny their truth or their soundness, the only direction in which he can proceed historically is not forward, but backward toward the time when there was no equality, no rights of the individual, no rule of the people."    -Calvin Coolidge

I believe the old saying that there's more than one way to skin a cat is going to come into play here.

@Free Vulcan

Quote
Trump announces 10% global tariff, criticizes Supreme Court justices

President Donald Trump slammed the Supreme Court's 6-3 decision that ruled he does not have the authority to levy sweeping tariffs under a specific emergency powers law, noting he will pursue "alternatives" to tariffs under emergency law.

"Other alternatives will now be used to replace the ones that the court incorrectly rejected," Trump said during a White House press briefing Friday afternoon. "We have alternatives. Great alternatives. Could be more money. We'll take in more money, and we'll be a lot stronger for it. We're taking in hundreds of billions of dollars. We'll continue to do so."

The president also announced he is imposing a 10% "global tariff" following the court's decision.

"Today I will sign an order to impose a 10% global tariff under section 122 over and above our normal tariffs already being charged," Trump said. "And we're also initiating several section 301 and other investigations to protect our country from unfair trading practices of other countries and companies."

NEWS As the media criticizes Trump for going forward with tariffs under existing U.S. statutes after the Supreme Court ruled against them, here are the multiple times the Biden Admin went around the Supreme Court’s adverse rulings against it:

•Student Loan Bailout (2023): The Supreme Court struck down his $430B student loan bailout, but the Biden administration continued with a new, separate, and more targeted plan, which also faced lower court challenges.

•Vaccine Mandates (2022): The Supreme Court blocked Biden’s OSHA vaccine-or-test mandate for large businesses, but the Biden Admin continued its mandate for health and federal workers.

•EPA (2022): The Court limited the EPA's authority to regulate carbon emissions from power plants, but the Biden Admin continued to seek different regulatory approaches.

•Affirmative Action (2023): After the decision ending race-conscious college admissions, the Biden Admin urged colleges to consider "adversity" in admissions and directed its Education Department to still pursue affirmative action.

And..after the Supreme Court ruled presidents have immunity for official acts, Biden took it a step further and tried to propose a constitutional amendment ("No One Is Above the Law Amendment") to overturn its decision.

TARIFFS are a TAX.
CONGRESS granted the “Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises.” CONSTITUTION ARTICLE I, SECTION 8
The word TAX does NOT appear ANYWHERE in the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA).
Power to tax via this statute not granted to the executive branch.
No conspiracies necessary.

The Supreme Court defended the Constitution by rejecting the use of “emergency” powers to impose taxes. Tariffs are taxes and the power to declare them belongs to the Congress. This goes beyond this case. No future administration, including a socialist one, can use “emergency” powers to get around Congress and tax by decree.

Too many seem to believe that if they support something a president or Congress does, it must be in the Constitution or, even worse, the cause is greater than the Constitution

It is a great day😆

MAGA getting spanked

Who knew we had a Constitution that doesn’t get pushed aside based on TACO’s moods?😊

So a self-described conservative is celebrating a Supreme Court ruling because he thinks it marks the “death of MAGA.”

That’s not analysis. That’s wishful thinking.

First question: what does he gain from MAGA dying off?

Influence? A return to pre-2016 conservatism where consultants, think tanks, and cable news panels dictated the agenda while voters were politely ignored? Because if MAGA disappears, the power vacuum does not magically fill itself with principle. It fills with whoever controls institutions. And historically, that has not been grassroots conservatives.

Second question: how does he plan to accomplish the “changes” he claims to want without the voters who make up MAGA?

Who exactly is going to carry those policies across the finish line? The donor class? The old guard leadership that failed to secure the border, failed to control spending, failed to confront unfair trade practices, and failed to slow the cultural drift for decades? If those were the winning pieces, we would not have needed a political disruption in the first place.

Third question: who has the numbers?

MAGA is not a think tank. It is a voting bloc. It is millions of Americans who believe in sovereignty, border enforcement, domestic industry, and constitutional limits. You do not get durable reform by alienating the largest energized segment of your own coalition.

And let’s be clear about something bigger.

Cheering for the failure of a movement composed of your fellow citizens because you dislike its tone or its leader is not conservative. It is factional. Conservatives traditionally argue for persuasion, coalition building, and incremental reform. Wishing collapse on a group trying to advance policies they believe will strengthen the country is not patriotic. It is petty.

If he thinks MAGA is wrong, then make the case. Offer a better blueprint. Show the electoral math. Show the governing path. Show the legislative strategy.

But rooting for its extinction without presenting a viable alternative is not seriousness. It is surrender dressed up as sophistication.

Movements evolve. Coalitions shift. But self-sabotage is not strategy.

If you want change, you should explain who is going to deliver it, with what votes, through what institutions, and under what political reality.

Otherwise, this is not about saving conservatism.
It is about reclaiming control of it.

Breaking: The SCOTUS tariff ruling has thrust the US economy into uncharted territory even if the markets aren’t reflecting the coming chaos. How to administer the refunds will take years to sort out and likely result in litigation with the government, which will mean more delays, one government economist told me. Businesses I speak to tell me they are still trying to figure out how to proceed; large retailers like @Walmart
are weighing the pros and cons of seeking refunds. In short, it’s a mess

Trump won’t refund anyone.

All tariffs collected to date will be credited toward future tariffs to be set.

It's already been proven here that the tariffs have not had the apocalyptic effect that was predicted.

More Veruca Salt fever dreams.

Remains to be seen IMO. I just saw that GDP growth slowed last quarter and that's before a revision.

Look at the current form of DRUDGE right now!!

There was a lot of speculation Drudge sold his site to the Otto family in 2018.  I'm not sure about that.  The formatting and topical interests are similar to years past.
