This crucial state is the latest battleground in redistricting war between Trump and Democrats
New congressional map could turn Virginia's 6-5 Republican edge into 10-1 Democratic advantage ahead of midterm elections

Democratic state lawmakers in control of the Virginia legislature are fast-tracking a proposed new congressional map that would give the competitive state up to four more left-leaning U.S. House districts in time for this year's midterm elections.

The map, which Democratic Gov. Abigail Spanberger is expected to sign early next week, comes as Virginia voters are getting ready to vote this spring on a ballot measure which would give the legislature, rather than the current non-partisan commission, redistricting power through the 2030 election.

Republicans are calling the Democrats' redistricting effort an "unconstitutional power grab." Democrats are countering that it's a necessary step to balance out partisan gerrymandering already implemented in other states by the GOP.

Virginia is the latest battleground, with Florida on deck, in the ongoing high-stakes battle between President Donald Trump and Republicans versus Democrats to alter congressional maps ahead of November's elections.

"Virginia voters are getting ready to vote this spring on a ballot measure which would give the legislature, rather than the current non-partisan commission, redistricting power through the 2030 election."

In another thread, it was reported that spanberger currently has a 60% approval rating.

If that be true, I reckong the Virginia voters will endorse this chicanery, easily.

No Virginian I have talked to (granted, only three) likes any of this, especially the 50 new proposed taxes. But polling NoVA and its concentration of Democrat voting Government employee types will yield results like those.

Balance the budget, and Virginia goes red again as unemployment in Alexandria hits double digits.

I see that VA is lost for good as well, and perhaps this country.  The mid terms are going to make that decision.  IF we lose our country, there is no taking her back.

We can take it back if we balance the budget and stop funding our domestic enemies with borrowed dollars.

We can't even manage to freeze the budget.  Republicans come in taking control of the White House and BOTH houses of Congress.  They bring in the DOGE crew who immediately identify over $1 trillion in waste.  So what do Republicans do?  They pass a budget that is 6% higher than the last one.

And this is why Hakeem says Democrats will spend whatever it takes to rob millions of Virginians of their representation at the federal level.
THIS IS NOT JUST ABOUT VIRGINIA.
We need the @GOP to get involved NOW.
We need @POTUS.
We need @VP.
We need @SpeakerJohnson.

If it comes down to a referendum, I can see that failing.  The vote in California was a direct response to Texas.

If the Democrats get away with their gerrymandering scheme in Virginia at the April 21 referendum (which you should be voting NO on), their odds of winning the House of Representatives will be as close to 100% as one could reasonably imagine.

The odds of the Democrats winning the House or Representatives is 100% because of Republican unwillingness to lead.  Their insistence on being Democrat-lite is simply not a winning political strategy.

We gave Elon Musk access to our federal budget, and he identified untold hundreds of billions of fraud and waste that were funding Democrat PACs at every level.  And what did Republicans do?  They drove off Musk.

Republicans are stupid, stupid, stupid.  They deserve to lose.  They offer nothing.  Five billion dollars goes towards free day care for illegals every year (See:  Minnesota Somalis), and the GOP can't even cut that while controlling both houses of Congress and the White House.  Idiots.

California is already gerrymandered, in case you didn't notice.

The parties are attempting to change the dimensions of the baseball field to their advantage while the game is in progress.

Re-shuffling the dominoes won't resolve anything.

The parties will find additional ways to meddle with the mechanics of elections.  They are football coaches who don't think their team can win on the field, so, they argue with the refs over the interpretation of rules and instant replays.

The parties wouldn't be resorting to electoral gamesmanship if they had confidence in the players there were fielding to win the game outright.

Too many lawyers and nerds, not enough (figurative) political brawlers, on both sides.

The commission-drawn lines slightly favored Democrats, but most of the Republican enclaves in SoCal have flipped in recent years.  You would have to draw some ugly districts to get Republicans to 30%.

They haven't flipped.  They are being stolen via ballot harvesting which was legalized in 2016.  Once that happened, GOP Orange County saw every House seat flip to the Dems.  Dem vote totals increased by 23% over 2012 while GOP numbers remained the same.  2020 numbers were 62% higher.  Ballot harvesting is why the GOP lost Orange County.

Americans want solutions, not whining from sore losers.

The GOP needs to offer a better political product to the voters.

The cries of mass voter fraud come from those who have ceded urban areas to the Dems.

Politics is a game of numbers.  Urban areas have the numbers for seats in the House of Reps.  GOP needs to compete in urban areas.

Dems don't compete in rural areas.  Republicans don't compete in urban areas.  That's a mistake.

Texas used to have a Dem Governor.  Massachusetts and California used to have Republican Governors.  New York City had Republican mayors.

Republicans need to get to work, but, too many in GOP leadership are lazy, and some may be prejudiced.  They want to do nothing, to cede urban areas to Dems, to whine that elections are rigged, and ignore that they gave away the urban vote ... which has the numbers for House seats.

If the GOP truly wants to change things for the better, they need to get off their cracker Ivy League country club asses and pass some g0dd@mned legislation.  Yeah, for things to change, Congressional Republicans need to do their jobs and pass legislation ... despite being afraid of their own shadows.

Any House Republican who is not working to pass legislation is a waste of a House seat.  Criminal referrals to DOJ do not count as legislation.

Well, VA is an 'open carry' state - so perhaps vote wise there still may be some hope.

What you see the dem-communists doing in the blue states (with redistricting) is a strategic political offensive for the future -- one that has a high probability of victory.

They are aiming to change the entire structure as to how representatives are elected in their respective states by creating a one-party "framework" of districts that (like the political machines of old) will deliver repeatedly, with little chance of contest from the opposing Republicans.

The Republicans, on the other hand, are unable or unwilling to play the game. Texas and Florida, yes, but look at supposedly red states like Indiana. Not much hope there.

All the red (and purple states, where possible) must push to redistrict "towards the red" as much as THEY can do it. They will be challenged in court, and will have to fight, but again, they must take this step to offset the blue redistricting.

Otherwise, the game is lost.
The side that takes the bold offensive (see above) wins.
