A Newly Discovered Comet May Soon Appear Bright in Our Skies

The newly discovered comet, C/2026 A1 (MAPS), has been spotted and is expected to be a spectacular sight in the evening sky in early April. It is part of the Kreutz sungrazing comets group, known for their brightness and potential to be visible in broad daylight. The comet will pass within 120,000 km of the Sun's surface, and if it survives, it could become visible in daylight. This comet's extreme orbit and approach to the Sun make it a highly anticipated event for skywatchers.

I remember looking up, walking with a girl in college and she said oh looks it's the comet. It was Hale-bopp in the 90's.

Comets have been a bust in my lifetime.  Hale Bop was even a disappointment.  With Haley's back in '86 being the biggest bust of all.  1910 it wasn't

And I seriously doubt I will be around in 2062 for the next chance.

Hale Bopp was spectacular! From that POV where I was living the tail spread across a quarter of the night sky.

Yeah, Halley,s didn't live up to the hype. From where I was living at the time, with no light pollution, Hale Bopp was great. I thought the pics of Schumacher Levy bombing Jupiter were epic.

Had to look it up.  Maybe my expectations were 1910-ish Haley's comet.  I do remember, and it was pretty close to this
