Sucks, but she's the best you're going to get.

Collins is probably going to lose, but she will make the race competitive.  This year is looking more like a wipeout with every special election result.

Indeed.  Remember William F. Buckley's advice to the GOP:  run the most conservative electable candidate available.  Folks on this board need to remember that in New England, as on the West Coast, the most conservative electable candidate may not be all that conservative, but will still be better than running a rock-ribbed solid conservative who loses, installing a Democrat in office instead.
And when they behead your own people in the wars which are to come, then you will know what this was all about.

It's Maine.  A Subaru owning purple haired lesbian with a three legged golden retriever would give Collins a run for her money.

Masshole retirees are moving to Maine because they can't afford to live in Mass on fixed income and they don't want to deal with Florida hurricanes.

With her Parkinson's Disease, I'd thought Susan Collins would be at the "Katherine Hepburn 'On Golden Pond'" bobblehead stage of the disease.  Congress certainly gives themselves great healthcare.

I don't fault her for having Parkinson disease and medications can greatly control symptoms and extend life, but there is something do be said for term limits at all levels of congress and the presidency.  We've gone through McCain, McConnell, and Pelosi to name  politicians that should have stepped down long before they either passed or decided not to run anymore.  Collins needs to step down. She's been in office 29 years; it's time to retire.

Bring on term limits.  Few politicians are going to vote themselves out of a job, but maybe if people keep demanding term limits, perhaps we may just make some headway on the issue?
Live in  harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly, do not claim to be wiser than you are.  Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all.  If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all.

As it so happens, Janet Mills has filed the paperwork.

I've said this many times before, and I can repeat with 100% confidence:
There will NEVER be term limits for Congressmen and Senators.
Not going to happen under the existing Constitution.

Instead of term limits, we need "age limits".
We already have "minimum age limits" -- they're already IN the existing Constitution.
No one challenges them.
Now we just need mandatory retirement ages.

But term limits?
Nope.

As Reagan said (very wisely) "I'd rather have someone vote with me 80 per cent of the time and 20 per cent against than someone who votes against me 100 per cent of the time." (heavily paraphrased)

This country seems to being pulled leftward.*  I'll be surprised to see if we ever get a conservative, by our definition, legislature. Or enough conservative candidates to even run.

*Maybe as the young people age this trend will reverse.
