Everything Is Coming Up Marco Rubio

Walk into a high-stakes State Department meeting with Secretary Marco Rubio, and you might find him dissecting last night’s Miami Dolphins game, play-by-play, formation by formation.

Then, in a heartbeat, he pivots: breaking down alliances, threats, and America’s next move on the global stage.

People close to the secretary say that’s just who Rubio is. A lifelong diehard Dolphins fans, Miami native, and now the man President Trump tapped to execute his foreign policy vision. He’s the man with a million jobs.

The Daily Caller spoke to people within Rubio’s inner circle, both within the administration and outside of it, about his meteoric rise. Some watched Rubio operate as speaker of the Florida legislature. Others saw him upset Charlie Crist in his race for Senate. All watched as he evolved from “little Marco” to perhaps the most powerful Secretary of State since Kissinger. Some of them even got emotional while speaking about the impact he has had on their lives.

Rubio has long been a foreign policy wonk with certain ideas of what America’s role in the world should be — particularly in Latin America. As Trump has sought to reshape the region, speculation has emerged about how much influence Rubio has on the president’s vision, or if Rubio is just the ideal candidate to put Trump’s instincts into action.

Rubio has turned out so far to be an excellent Secy of State. 

I place bets on his run for the Presidency in '28 even though he's stated that he won't run if Vance does.  Both have charismatic personalities, but I feel Vance is able to connect with the people more so than Rubio.

Does Rubio have more experience than Vance?  That's debatable.

The chances of one of them being seated obviously will be greater if the GOP manages to hold onto either the House or Senate, otherwise, sadly, who knows what this country will be like.  I have my reservations.

Agreed. Rubio's biggest hurdle is going to be citizenship. Neither of his parents were born in the U.S. nor became naturalized citizens until after Marco was born.  So the issue of SCOTUS ruling on birthright citizenship will be interesting and could very well impact him in constitutionally running for president. Though I doubt that they will rule against birthright citizenship (those whose parents weren't citizens., i.e., anchor babies) this could present a problem for Rubio.

Another hurdle he faces is some will still equate him with being a member of the Gang of Eight.  That's a permanent black mark on his record. Especially with the current focus on deportations.

Like I said, his membership in the Gang of Eight left a permanent black mark on his record.  I didn't vote for him the last time around.

Yes, he's done a good job so far as Secy., but I think he was a lousy Senator and he's an anchor baby.
