You'd be surprised though.

Nothing would surprise me about this bizarre case.  The Sheriff of Nottingham screwed this up so badly I wouldn't be shocked if they fished her body out of Lake Mead.

The $152 crypto mistake by Nancy Guthrie detectives that may have forced kidnappers underground
By Jared Downing
Published June 24, 2026, 5:30 a.m. ET

Investigators hunting Nancy Guthrie’s kidnappers have one glaring clue that’s been staring at them from the beginning — a bitcoin wallet sent by ransom note writers to Guthrie’s family.

Crypto experts say the ransom note and the wallet suggest that the kidnappers were “farkakta” amateurs, but detectives are also reportedly wondering if they made a massive, $152 blunder at the start of the case.

A ransom email — which mentions details about Guthrie’s home and an Apple watch that hadn’t been disclosed to the public — demanded $4 million in crypto for her return.

A follow-up email from the same IP address claimed she had died.

Detectives from the FBI and the Pima County Sheriff’s Department are reportedly second-guessing their choice to not to pay the $4 million ransom, sources within the case told the outlet Air Mail.

I said that she was dead from day 1.

Yep. Just some scattered bones.

Lord and I just saw another forensic show about that.  Poor kid was finally found by a hiker near pikes peak, about a couple years later.

I’m sorry but I haven’t paid too much attention to this case, but I still feel suspicious of Savannah or some combo of her and siblings.

FBI Says 3 Nancy Guthrie Ransom Notes Are Fake

Three ransom notes shared in news reports covering the disappearance of Today show co-host Savannah Guthrie’s mother have been dismissed as fakes by federal investigators, a report Tuesday reveals.

Reuters reports the FBI assessment of inauthenticity covers the two ransom notes publicly disclosed in early February, days after 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie vanished.

A third more recent ‌message from someone claiming to know the kidnappers’ identities has also been deemed bogus by the same authorities.

The three imposters were sent to a U.S. outlet demanding millions in Crypto, claiming to know the kidnappers’ identities and, most horrifically, alleging to have footage of “the day she died.”

Eff her!  She contributed to gumming up this case almost as much as the Sheriff of Nottingham.  I feel bad for her, having lost her Mother, but Savannah's first act upon learning of her Mother's disappearance was to call Mark Kelly on the telephone.

Mom's missing, so her first thought was to make it political!

The family never actively looked for their mother.  They didn't organize groups to look.....just absolutely nothing.  If my mom were missing I'd be looking non-stop.  I just never understood why they did this.

And the sheriff....  he may very well get indicted.

Nancy Guthrie Sheriff Chris Nanos says he's 'still positive' case will be resolved despite long wait
Sheriff Chris Nanos cited extensive DNA and video evidence still being processed more than 25 weeks after abduction
By Michael Ruiz Fox News
Published July 29, 2026 6:00am EDT

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos says he's "still positive" the Nancy Guthrie case will be resolved as investigators continue to dig through evidence more than 25 weeks after her home invasion abduction in Tucson, Arizona.

"We have so much DNA to sort through," Nanos said in an interview aired on "Today."

Guthrie is the 84-year-old mother of one of the show's co-hosts, Savannah Guthrie.

"We have so much, in terms of video evidence, to look at," Nanos added. "So I'm still positive that we're here to resolve this case."

The sheriff's remarks came hours after Savannah Guthrie released a new video plea to her mother's abductors on Instagram, urging them to "make the right choice" and tell the family where to look for her.

A federal source told Fox News Monday that Guthrie consulted with law enforcement before releasing the video.
