The competence of the Sheriff aside, what exactly is the motive here?

To me, it was coming home earlier than she was expected (If it was a burglary gone bad)

Did the perp know she was 84 and had limited mobility?  The blood at the front door is worrisome.

Head wounds tend to bleed more profusely...but they haven't said how much blood was recovered/tested.

They have stated it is Guthrie's blood.

No doubt at this point I think it is safe to assume it was someone she knew.  Someone who knew her routine and what she was worth to them. There was blood and forced entry at the scene -- so unfortunately she struggled.  At 84 years old with a heart condition, I doubt that this is going to have a good outcome.

I just noticed today, actually yesterday, that the news shows are slowly getting back to normal.
My routine evening is Ingraham, Watters, sometime Hannity, and then of course Gutfeld.
Haven't been able to watch any of the first three for a week.

They all turned into "The Guthrie News Hour" shows and they were all reporting the same news over, and over, and over, and over, endlessly.
I am sorry a woman was kidnapped, but I don't know anything about Savannah Guthrie or her mother. I couldn't watch the endless reporting on it.

Turned on the news this morning and they were back to issues like Iran, Israel, the economy, i.e., real news. I am glad to get back to normal news.

I agree -- Mr. Bele has the news on at dinner time and most reporting is on Guthrie.

Investigators visited a gas station near Nancy Guthrie’s home in Tucson, Arizona, Friday, seeking information about a particular individual as part of their probe into the disappearance of "Today" show anchor Savannah Guthrie's mother.

Surveillance footage obtained by Fox News Digital shows two plainclothes law enforcement officials at the gas station, located about 20 minutes from Guthrie’s home. A gas station employee told Fox News Digital that both local and federal authorities asked to review surveillance video related to what the employee described as “some guy.”

“They just showed up,” the employee said. “They asked if they could see camera footage.” When asked what authorities viewed, the employee said investigators did not provide details. “They said they were looking for some guy who got away,” the employee added. “No description.”

As of Saturday, authorities have not publicly identified a suspect. Fox News Digital has reached out to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department for comment.

Second note shows captors ‘are confident they are not going to be found,’ retired FBI agent says

Retired FBI supervisory special agent Lance Leising suggested on Fox News’ “Saturday in America” that the emergence of a second note in the Nancy Guthrie case shows that those behind her disappearance are "confident they are not going to be found.”

A second message was sent to a local news station on Friday in connection to the case. The message reportedly does not include proof of life or a way for Guthrie’s family to communicate with the suspected abductor or abductors.

“It’s interesting that they are committed to sending a second one if it’s the same person. Because they are confident they are not going to be found, they are confident they are using anonymizers and changing their IP address and running it through a bunch of different countries, potentially, to avoid being tracked,” Leising said. “But they are not offering anything that would authenticate they are the kidnappers.”

If burglary was the motive then why didn't they do it while she was at church, much easier.  She was targeted.
