Stephen Colbert reveals date for final episode of ‘The Late Show’

(NewsNation) — Fans knew it was coming, but didn’t know when exactly the final episode of “The Late Show” would air until now.

Host Stephen Colbert announced on Tuesday that the long-running program will air its series finale on Thursday, May 21.

He revealed the news on “Late Night With Seth Meyers,” according to Latenighter.

CBS announced last July that “The Late Show” would be completely shutting down, citing financial reasons for the cancellation.

The announcement came days after Colbert criticized a settlement between President Trump and Paramount Global, the parent company of CBS, over a “60 Minutes” interview with former Vice President Harris during the 2024 presidential election.

Colbert said, regarding the settlement, that he was “offended” that Paramount settled with Trump, calling it a “big fat bribe” that would ensure Paramount and Skydance merge — which the companies eventually did, after the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) approved the deal.

“I don’t know if anything — anything — will repair my trust in this company,” he said at the time. “But, just taking a stab at it, I’d say $16 million would help.”

Days after his comments, it was announced that the show would not be renewed.

An epic loss to the late night tv viewing landscape.  But all good things must come to an end.

On the plus side, a whole new generation of viewers will be treated to classic reruns of "Kolchak: The Night Stalker" Or "Night Gallery".

The problem with Leftists is that their overwhelming HATE is omnidirectional. They can 'protest' against ICE one day, and then protest against Walz the next. On the list of characteristics of Leftist rioters, loyalty and commitment are at the bottom. Leftists are deeply disturbed and abysmally unhappy people. They are protesting against themselves, their parents, and life itself. Conservatives make their heads explode because mainstream Americans are generally happy contented people who love life. This is the opposite of everything Democrats/Leftists stand for. Your very existence, your happiness is an affront to their entire way of life.

Colbert trash the company and the bosses who sign his paycheck was not a very well thought out plan. He fired himself with his hateful and ungrateful diatribes, against basically "everything".
