Frozen woman who was 'stiff as a rock' is found outside Texas convenience store

A homeless woman was found nearly frozen to death in frigid temperatures before quick-thinking bystanders saved her life.

Convenience store manager Faris Hussain found the woman - a regular customer named Bobbi - 'stiff as a rock' in the snow outside Evans Food Mart in Fort Worth, Texas on Thursday.

'When I heard her name, it was one of my good customers,' he told First Alert 4.

Hussain and another customer immediately ran outside to rescue her. Temperatues plunged to a low of 38F on Thursday.

He lifted Bobbi up brought her inside, later saying her body appeared frozen solid.

'She felt like a rock, stiff as a rock,' he said.

Hussain was seen in security camera footage shuffling through the snow with Bobbi in his arms.

As she began to finally warm up, Bobbi thanked Hussain and the other customers. She had been outside the entire night.

I have no actual knowledge, but I have a feeling the Sacred Homeless who live in states like IL or KS (= cold winter climate) migrate to states like TX, AZ, and CA along about October. If so, those who went to TX got an unpleasant, and maybe deadly, surprise.

Very true. Add Florida too to your list. A lot of homeless people will die from this storm.

The majority of homeless are vagabonds who drift aimlessly from place to place getting whatever they can get.

There are many mentally ill homeless and fugitives from law who will NEVER, never ever under ANY circumstances, go to any kind of shelter. They have a kind of insane unreconcilable paranoia to anything structured or anything related to State or Federal Government. And they WILL very likely die. They know this and accept it. It is the way they choose to live [or die].

In Panama City the other week a homeless bum asked me for a ride to a warming shelter.  WTF, do I look like an Uber Driver.  I asked him where it was located. Turns out it was only 3 or 4 blocks away.  I told him the walk would warm him up and I went on my way.   

Besides, It's a safety thing.  Most of these people are coo coo for cocoa puffs insane.  Why would I let some nut in my car, in close quarters, so they can pull out a knife and stab me?  I think not.

Something similar happened near us recently. A young woman was found dead in a creek, lying atop the ice. Officials haven't said whether she passed out from hypothermia, drugs or something else.

In all of the survival courses I have taken there is one common mantra: You not dead until you are warm and dead. There have been any number of cases of people being pulled out of rivers and snow banks with no signs of life only to revive after warming.

I had something similar happen to me recently. Before I opened the door and let the guy in, I asked if he was a homicidal maniac or any such thing. He said he wasn't and I said "Good! It would be too much of a coincidence for there to be two of us in the same car." When I opened the door, he looked over at me and said, "Thanks but it isn't that far so I'll just walk."  @Wingnut
