📈Russians brace for accelerated price increases due to the fuel crisis
In the coming month, prices for basic products, goods, and services will rise faster than before – this is the answer chosen by 49% of respondents surveyed by the Public Opinion Foundation (FOM) on July 3–5.
A month earlier, 35% responded this way, a lower proportion than those who thought prices would rise "the same as before" (40%, now 31%).
Expectations of price increases are now even higher than after the war began. In March 2022, inflation was 7.6%, but quickly declined (1.56% in April, 0.12% in May). The last time expectations were as high as now was in November 2021, and worse during the COVID-19 lockdowns (50% in March-April 2020).
The situation has changed dramatically in a month. In May, inflation was only 0.17%, but it accelerated sharply from mid-June due to soaring fuel prices.
