At least 26 recruits died of noncombat causes in Ukraine's 425th Separate Assault Regiment, better known as Skelia, between late 2025 and spring 2026, according to an investigation published by Ukrainian media outlet Babel on June 23.

The investigation, built on the testimonies of current and former service members in the unit, as well as relatives of mobilized soldiers, details widespread violent abuse, coercion, and inhumane conditions, especially at training bases.

Skelia is one of Ukraine's largest assault units, with more than 10,000 personnel, and is responsible for conducting assaults and rapid reaction clearing missions across the front line.

The regiment, expanded as part of Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi's push to build specialized assault formations, the regiment consistently receives far more of Ukraine's newly mobilized recruits than any standard maneuver brigade.

Because of the frequency and intensity of its assault missions, Skelia has become known in Ukraine for higher-than-average battlefield losses, as well as brutal conditions inside the unit.

The deaths, which occurred shortly after mobilization and training, have prompted allegations from relatives and former servicemen of inadequate medical care and, in some cases, physical abuse within the unit. The regiment's commanders have rejected accusations of systemic wrongdoing.  .  .  .

The Defense Forces of Ukraine in the Luhansk region critically damaged a railway bridge that the Russian invaders were using for logistics.

The Exilenova+ Telegram channel reported on this.

The damaged bridge is a railway bridge in the village of Sabivka.

The strike on the target was launched on June 26. The bridge played an important role in ensuring rail communication between the temporarily occupied areas of the Luhansk region and the Donetsk region.

Through it (coordinates 48.575458, 39.152875), Russian troops could transfer personnel, ammunition, fuel, and other military cargo.

According to the photo, the restoration of the bridge is quite laborious; however, given its importance, the Russians will probably begin repair work. Two lines pass through the bridge: one of them collapsed, while the other suffered damage, the extent of which is currently unknown.

It is worth noting that these strikes are taking place in parallel with the enemy’s logistics being undermined on the roads.

Alexander Lunin, a former Russian serviceman and blogger who publicly demanded a face-to-face meeting with Russian leader Vladimir Putin and threatened to stage an army mutiny, has been arrested on a charge of displaying extremist symbols.

Details: According to Verstka, the case came to court at 10:00 on Saturday 27 June and the hearing took place at 11:30. It was not until two days later, on the morning of 29 June, that information about the proceedings appeared on the court's website.

The court's ruling has not been published. Court officials refused to provide Verstka with a copy of the decision, saying that "cases like this are not made public". The charge of displaying extremist symbols, which is categorised as an administrative offence, carries a maximum penalty of 15 days' detention.

Posts that had appeared earlier on Lunin's Telegram channel claimed he had been sentenced to 11 days in detention, although no reason was given.

On 25 June, Lunin posted a video address to Putin demanding a live face-to-face meeting. He accused military commanders of abusing Russian servicemen and warned that the Russian military could "turn its weapons against the Kremlin" if he were not allowed to speak alongside the Russian leader.

After the video appeared online, Lunin's wife said security forces had searched their home in Russia's Voronezh Oblast overnight and seized computer equipment. She later deleted her video and wrote that Lunin was "alive and well", but urged people not to circulate information about him.

A subsequent post on the blogger's Telegram channel confirmed that he had been detained.  .  .

On June 22, the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck the Dubna and Vladimir Space Communications Centers.

The facility in Dubna is the largest ground-based satellite communications complex in Russia. The center is used for military communications and to control satellite transponders employed by the Russian Ministry of Defense for communications, reconnaissance, and troop coordination.  .  .
