@Gerashchenko_en

‼️ A genocide is taking place in Ukraine right now, committed by Russia.
This is barely being discussed or covered in the Western press.

I know that many Ukrainians living abroad follow me.
I am calling on international organizations and the Ukrainian diaspora to organize demonstrations in support of Ukraine and to clearly explain what Russia is doing to Ukraine today.

This helps mobilize humanitarian aid and international awareness.
It is something that can be done quickly and effectively.

I ask journalists to cover this topic and share information.

Please share this message and take action.

Thanks for setting up the new thread, @Hoodat

I still remember those early days of the invasion 4 years ago, everybody thought Ukraine would be finished in a week.

Hell, they were a tiny country going up against a giant Superpower with nuclear weapons, and a well-tuned military machine everybody said could roll across Europe in just days! What possible chance did Ukraine have FFS!!

But "a week" turned into 2 weeks, then a month, then 2 months, 6 months, a year, 2 years, etc... and they're still alive and fighting!

And smart fighting, too ... covert operations deep inside Russia, effective targeting of Russian infrastructure, leveraging new technologies [drones], the discipline to not brag about successes (and give away useful info), etc. ... all very impressive for a small country.

All the while wearing down a monster that, if Ukraine weren't inconveniently in the way, would be attacking Europe right now.

It's truly remarkable what they've accomplished ... Slava Ukraini!!

Russian Offensive Campaign Assessment, January 26, 2026

Mostly headlines:

The United States and Europe are finalizing security and economic guarantees with Ukraine that aim to deter future Russian aggression and rebuild Ukraine's post-war economy ...

The Kremlin continues to exploit the lack of clarity about the outcome of the August 2025 US-Russian Alaska summit to falsely portray Ukraine - not Russia - as the unwilling negotiating partner ...

Kremlin officials have been claiming that the Alaska summit achieved a joint US-Russian understanding and agreement to end the war in Ukraine, despite no publicly available joint documents or communiques emerging from the summit ...

The Kremlin is reviving its use of nuclear arms control rhetoric to push the United States to make concessions on Ukraine in return for normalizing US-Russian relations ...

Putin and other senior Kremlin officials have repeatedly demonstrated that the Kremlin is not wavering from its original war demands and intends to achieve its objectives militarily, if it cannot do so diplomatically ...

[ Attention Elon Musk ]
Russian forces are increasingly using Starlink satellite systems to extend the range of BM-35 strike drones to conduct mid-range strikes against the Ukrainian rear. Ukrainian Ministry of Defense (MoD) advisor on defense technology and drone and electronic warfare (EW) expert Serhiy “Flash” Beskrestnov reported on January 26 that Russian forces used a Starlink-equipped BM-35 drone to strike Dnipro City (approximately 86 kilometers from the frontline) for the first time.

This strike comes less than two weeks after Beskrestnov reported the first recorded usage of Starlink-equipped BM-35 drones on January 15.

Beskrestnov noted that the BM-35 drone is more fuel efficient than Russian Molniya fixed-wing first-person view (FPV) drones and has a range of up to 500 kilometers. ISW has only observed evidence that the Russian Rubikon Center for Advanced Unmanned Technologies is fielding BM-35 drones to date.

Russian forces first began fielding the BM-35 in September 2025 and intensified BM-35 strikes in early January 2026.

Russian milbloggers and the Rubikon Center itself claimed that Rubikon drone operators employed BM-35s in January 12 to 13 strikes on cargo vessels near Odesa City and a January 17 strike against a Patriot air defense system southwest of Kharkiv City.

Russian forces appear to be increasingly relying on Starlinks to increase the range of operation of strike drones while increasing drone resilience against Ukrainian EW. The reported 500-kilometer range of Starlink-equipped BM-35 drones places most of Ukraine, all of Moldova, and parts of Poland, Romania, and Lithuania in range of these drones if launched from Russia or occupied Ukraine. ISW has observed reports of Starlink-equipped Shahed long-range strike drones beginning in September 2024 and of Rubikon equipping Molniya strike drones with Starlink systems beginning in December 2025.

ISW continues to assess that Russian mid-range strikes, especially those conducted by Rubikon units, seek to exploit Ukraine's scarcity of air defense systems.

The threat of Russian mid-range strikes underscores Ukraine's urgent need for point-defense air defense systems to down drones, as electronic warfare (EW) systems are likely insufficient to defend Ukraine's critical infrastructure from such a geographically pervasive threat.

Russia's domestic populace is increasingly bearing the economic costs of Russia's war in Ukraine ...

The Kremlin has prioritized the Russian defense industrial base (DIB) and funding its war in Ukraine, which has led to Russian banks passing lending pressures from the Russian DIB onto consumers ...

Kremlin snuffbox/Кремлевская табакерка, Jan 26 2026

The probability of a mass evacuation from Donetsk is over 60%

Many were alarmed by our post about Denis Pushilin's proposal to evacuate some Donetsk residents this summer due to water shortages [ https://t.me/kremlin_secrets/6712 ]. We spoke with sources in the DPR about the seriousness of this threat.

"This summer, Donetsk, Makiivka, and several other cities in the republic will likely have almost no water. Things will improve in Mariupol, but the situation will also worsen. Denis Vladimirovich was reluctant to ask Moscow to prepare for evacuation until the very end. But the situation is complex, so we simply need to consider various options," asserts a source close to Pushilin.

A source in the DPR government confirmed his words. "We're fighting for water as best we can. Moscow is helping, but, frankly, not always effectively. Therefore, I estimate the likelihood of at least half the population of Donetsk and, preferably, Makeyevka being evacuated by the summer at 55-60%, or even higher," he noted.

Kremlin sources told us they "received information about new water problems in the DPR." However, the Presidential Administration hopes that a large-scale evacuation of Donetsk's population will be avoided.

Or maybe someone will tell Putin?

We're not the only ones who have questions about what information Valery Gerasimov has about the situation on the battlefield, and what data he reports to the President. We're practically screaming: Stop lying! Men are dying because of your lies, Comrade General!

And Gerasimov continues. This time, the Chief of the General Staff has invented the liberation of Kupyansk-Uzlovaya.

Gerasimov is spreading rumors that they are trying to set him up, and therefore he alone must convey to the President the "correct" information about the situation at the front.

Unfortunately, the lies cultivated by Gerasimov have permeated the entire military chain of command. Commanders on the ground are reluctant to report information about losses of equipment, personnel, or positions. And all this is passed on to the highest levels. This is precisely why the enemy, on one side, is always on the defensive, while on the other, in places, actively advancing (as was the case with Kupyansk).

This system needs to be changed. Otherwise, we'll lose not only the initiative on the front lines, but also our chances of achieving a real victory in Ukraine.

Russian soldiers are stripped to their underwear and taped upside-down to a tree in freezing conditions as punishment for refusing to join meat-grinder assaults

Daily Mail
By WILL STEWART
27 January 2026

Horrifying footage shows the barbaric punishment torture by Putin commanders for Russian soldiers accused of desertion and failing to follow orders.

One mutinous fighter was seen taped upside down to a tree in the biting cold near the frontline.

Another - also tethered to a tree - was forced to eat snow by his superior officer.

The frightened and shaking men wore only underwear after being stripped of their winter uniforms.

Their foul-mouthed commander is heard barking: '[They] wanted to **** off from their positions, not follow orders.'

Forcing snow into the mouth of the refusenik, the raging officer says: 'Eat, you ****ing *****.'

One of the taped men pleads in desperation: 'I'm sorry, it won't happen again.'

He is told by the commander: 'You need to work, not **** off. Did I tell you where to go?'

The reply is: 'I'm sorry, please.'

The Putin officer mocks their male sexuality, trolling them: 'You ****ing f*****s, **** off!'

The sickening punishments come as peace talks are underway in the war, without a clear signal from Putin that he intends to halt his almost four year invasion of Ukraine.

'Russia turns people into cattle, because only animals obey orders without saying a word. Orwell's farmyard - this is Putin's Russia,' said Ukraine channel Butusov Plus.

Another channel War Archive states: 'In the video, a Russian commander uses 'updated' methods of torture on two occupiers who refused to take part in an assault.'

Nevzorov Telegram channel posted: 'The [Russian] generals continue to 'shout and drive forward'.

'Therefore, local commanders have to invent new types of torture for their personnel.'

This came as sickening new Russian overnight strikes left 80 per cent of Ukraine's second city Kharkiv city and the surrounding region without power in blistering winter cold.

'There was no electricity last night, everything was knocked out,' said one resident.

'What could we do? It's almost 24 hours now, and it's -18C outside.'

Ukraine And The Gamification Of Combat

Lawrence Person's BattleSwarm Blog

The Russo-Ukrainian War continues to accelerate military innovation at a furious rate. The latest innovation isn’t a better drone or newer hardware, but introducing a fundamentally new organizing principle: the gamification of combat.

The top brass in Kyiv struggle to keep up with this innovation—both the new technology and its use on a highly decentralized battlefield. Drone production is scattered and diverse, with the Ukrainian drone company DroneUA estimating that as many as 700 companies and 500 suppliers are now churning out UAVs of every description. Active-duty units control their own budgets. With drones and other military kit in short supply, most fighters supplement what they get from the government with items they buy themselves—their own clothing and vehicles, for example—crowdsourcing, and donations from charity foundations. Some units say they count on donations for more than two-thirds of their drones, and most modify the devices they receive to suit their unique battlefield circumstances.

Kyiv is working to tame this chaos with organizational reform—a corps-based command system aligned with NATO practices. But the armed forces also strive to take advantage of decentralization, harnessing it to drive innovation and effectiveness on the battlefield. That’s where the point system comes in—allowing fighters to bypass the bureaucracy in Kyiv and buy weapons directly from manufacturers.

Frontline commander Prickly said that drone pilots save video clips of the damage they do—whether destroying machinery or killing Russian soldiers. The unit prepares a daily montage and sends it to the Ministry of Defense, where experts comb over the footage to confirm the unit’s claims and confer points for verified destruction.

The allocation changes regularly, but as of June 2025, Business Insider reported that destroying a tank was worth eight points. A multiple launch rocket system counted for 10. Killing a regular Russian soldier earned 12 points. Wounding a drone pilot was valued at 15 and eliminating him netted 25. In the final step, the payoff, units use the points they’ve earned to purchase equipment—drones, drone jamming devices, ammunition, and other goods—on Brave1 Market, an online shopping platform not unlike Amazon.

Ukraine’s government-run media platform, United24, also reported that the Ukrainian government reaps data from the point system, enabling it to make better decisions about strategy.

Varying the allocation—how many points, say, for a destroyed tank or for killing a drone pilot—gives Kyiv a new tool of command and control. Signals from the field about changing demand—what kinds of drones are selling best on the marketplace—help the armed forces make procurement decisions, and the system is a boon for manufacturers, who can lock in larger, longer-term contracts, enabling them to invest for the future.

•  “The long-awaited reforms of Ukrainian army are being introduced just right now into the system under the new defense minister of Ukraine, Mykhailo Fedorov, who is a very talented young guy and who thinks absolutely openly towards the introduction of the new technologies, drones and every sort of the new features which could help to save the lives of Ukrainian soldiers and help Ukrainian army to win in this war.”

•  Fedorov was previously head of Digital Transformation of Ukraine where he oversaw creation DIIA, a digital app for Ukrainians to interact with a variety of government services. “It is not just useful and saves time for people, but it also helps to eliminate, or reduce it’s better to say, corruption, because you don’t have those bureaucrats, officials. Everything is happening automatically and digitally.”

•  “Fedorov is now ahead of the defense minister of Ukraine. He’s the fourth defense minister who got his position from the start of the war, full-scale war of Russia against Ukraine.”
-----
•  “And it is very effective because total equality among all of the Ukrainian soldiers is not possible. Some units are more effective than others, and they should obtain better equipment and more drones. For example, Magyar Birds [414th Unmanned Strike Aviation Brigade], one of the most effective units, they have the most of those E-points. So the analogy is the same as with the game. The better the player, the better gear it usually has. But instead of each player fights its own separate enemy, now all of the players, all of the soldiers in Ukraine, all of the regiments, they fight against the common enemy.”

•  “So all of the people are interested for the top players to have this better gear. Like for example, vampire drones, also called Baba [Yaga] drones. It doesn’t mean that the rest of the brigades will obtain absolutely nothing. No, everyone has this chance to be successful to hurt lots of the Russian soldiers in some of the particular direction and earn those E-points.”

•  “For example, each Russian soldier costs [i.e., earns] six points. Each Russian tank costs 40 points. A Russian rocket artillery system, as for example, book 60 points. Before Russian soldier price was two points but then the price rose up to six, well, Russia start to lose way more of the infantry.”

•  He explains how Brave1 works. “You may buy the special gear out there on the shop order. The government itself, the defense ministry, will send it for you. They directly purchase drones from the developers. For now, this system works just for the drones, but it seems like it will be also implemented for artillery. And of course, commanders of brigades, they’re very interested.”

•  “So the system has been taken from video games and it is damn effective. Actually lots of the stuff is been taken from the video games, and the most successful drone operators, they used to be gamers before, they have this muscle memory. Then they used to play lots of the video games for them to get used to the flight controller. It’s way way easier than to teach from the scratch. and you have to put all of those neurons here to the small muscles and fingers. Well, gamers here as a rule are more successful than average guys just taken from the streets.”

Russian soldiers are stripped to their underwear and taped upside-down to a tree in freezing conditions as punishment for refusing to join meat-grinder assaults

Horrifying footage shows the barbaric punishment torture by Putin commanders for Russian soldiers accused of desertion and failing to follow orders.

The sickening punishments come as peace talks are underway in the war, without a clear signal from Putin that he intends to halt his almost four year invasion of Ukraine.

Most Russian officers of that mind set just shoot the men out of hand. These guys were lucky.

Ukrainian drones wipe out $1billion worth of military aircraft in daring strikes inside Russia following Operation Spiderweb

Daily Mail
By PERKIN AMALARAJ
28 January 2026

Ukrainian drones have wiped out 15 of Vladimir Putin's military aircraft on Russian airfields deep behind the front lines following Operation Spiderweb.

Dramatic footage showed drones successfully striking the planes across five different military bases, although Ukraine has not indicated exactly when the attack took place.

Ukraine's spy service, the SBU, claimed to have taken out 11 Sukhoi and MiG fighter jets, three helicopters and an Antonov An-26 cargo plane.

It said that these aircraft were worth more than $1billion.

The SBU said its top Alpha unit was behind the strikes. Su-30SM and Su-34 jets, some of the Kremlin's most important frontline planes, were destroyed alongside older Su-27 and Su-24 planes, which are used to hit Ukraine.

Ukraine also destroyed MiG-31 interceptors. These are a key part of Russia's air defence system, and are often used to launch hypersonic Kinzhal missiles.

The three choppers - a Mi-8, a Mi-26 and a Mi-28 - will have hurt Russia's transport and logistics capabilities.

The SBU added that fuel and ammo depots were also destroyed in the operation.

Russian Offensive Campaign Assessment, January 28, 2026

Excerpts:

The People's Republic of China (PRC) continues to provide critical support to Russia's weapons production, including Oreshnik missiles and Shahed long-range drones. The Telegraph reported on January 28 that it has identified $10.3 billion worth of technology and advanced equipment that the PRC has sent to Russia during an unspecified time frame.

The Telegraph reported that Russia is using Chinese computer numerical control machines (CNC) to produce Oreshnik intermediate-range ballistic missiles (IRBMs) at the Votkinsk Plant in the Republic of Udmurtia and to produce Shahed-type drones at the Alabuga Special Economic Zone (ASEZ) in the Republic of Tatarstan.

The Telegraph found that the PRC also supplies millions of dollars’ worth of microchips, memory boards, ball bearings, telescopic sights, and mounted piezoelectric crystals to Russia. The PRC continues to refrain from directly supplying Russia with weapons but is supplying components and equipment, many of which are dual-use, to the Russian DIB instead.

ISW continues to assess that the PRC's supplies to the Russian DIB have enabled Russia to improve and scale up its production of drones that Russian forces use to launch long-range strikes against the Ukrainian rear and to strike the Ukrainian near rear to generate battlefield air interdiction (BAI) effects along the front line.

Ukrainian forces continued their strike campaign against Russian military assets near the front line and in the Russian near rear on the night of January 27 to 28. The Ukrainian General Staff reported that Ukrainian forces struck military assets in the Russian near rear, including a manpower concentration and drone control point near Velyka Novosilka, Donetsk Oblast (roughly 23 kilometers from the front line); a manpower concentration near Hryhorivka, Donetsk Oblast (roughly 13 kilometers from the front line); and an ammunition depot near Nyzhnya Duvanka, Luhansk Oblast (roughly 25 kilometers from the front line).

The Ukrainian General Staff reported that Ukrainian forces also struck Russian military assets near the front line, including manpower concentrations near Shakhove (east of Dobropillya) and Hulyaipole; a battalion command post near Berezove (southeast of Oleksandrivka); and a manpower concentration in Kolotylivka, Belgorod Oblast (west of Sumy City and north of Hrabovske). Ukrainian forces began increasing their mid-range strike campaign in late December 2025 and are undertaking their own battlefield air interdiction (BAI) campaign to parallel Russia's BAI campaign that enabled Russian advances in Fall 2025.

Ukrainian forces likely seek to use their mid-range strikes to counter recent Russian advances.

🇺🇦 Fedorov: The Ministry of Defense, together with SpaceX, is already solving the problem of using Starlink on Russian UAVs

A few hours after the appearance of Russian drones with Starlink communication over Ukrainian cities, the Ministry of Defense team promptly contacted SpaceX and proposed ways to solve this problem.

Grateful to SpaceX President and personally to Elon Musk for the quick response and the start of work on resolving the situation.

Elon Musk's decision to urgently turn on Starlink and send the first batch of terminals to Ukraine at the beginning of a full-scale invasion became critically important for the stability of our state.

Western technologies should continue to help the democratic world and protect the civilian population, and not be used for terror and the destruction of peaceful cities.

Russia’s forces advance slower than any army in the past century

Many First World War offensives gained territory faster than Kremlin’s meat grinder attacks in Ukraine

Kieran Kelly  |  29 January 2026  |  6:00am GMT

Russia’s army is advancing in Ukraine at the slowest pace seen in more than 100 years of warfare, new analysis shows.

Vladimir Putin’s forces have advanced between 15 and 70 metres per day since early 2024, slower than many campaigns during the First World War, according to a report from the Centre for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS).

Western intelligence believes Russia has also sustained more than 1.2 million casualties since the war began four years ago.

The findings come as Moscow continues to try to gain the upper hand during US-led peace talks by claiming that the fall of Ukraine is inevitable.

Putin has been trying to convince the Trump administration to force Kyiv into ceding the remainder of the Donbas region that is not currently under Russian control.

However, the slow pace of Russia’s advance is most evident in eastern Ukraine, the report found.

Moscow’s offensive on Chasiv Yar which began in Feb 2024, has seen Putin’s forces advance at an average rate of 15 metres per day, slower than a snail.

After two years of fighting, Russian forces have moved 10 kilometres and have failed to take the Donetsk city.

Around 150km away in Kupiansk, Kharkiv, Russian forces have advanced at a rate of about 23 metres per day since the offensive began in Nov 2024.

Moscow claimed to have taken the city in December but it was quickly refuted when Volodymyr Zelensky, the Ukrainian president, filmed himself visiting troops inside the city.

The most illustrative battle, however, centres around Pokrovsk, the key logistical hub dubbed the “gateway to Donetsk”. It has experienced intense fighting since the summer of 2024, but Ukraine has managed to hold on to a small pocket of territory in the city.

It means Russia is advancing slower than some First World War battles, including the Battle of the Somme, where French forces advanced around 80 metres per day.

In total, Russian forces are estimated to have taken 0.6 per cent of Ukrainian territory in 2024 and 0.8 per cent in 2025.

Russian forces control some 120,000 square kilometres – roughly 20 per cent of Ukraine – including Crimea and parts of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions seized before 2022.

CSIS estimates that about 75,000 square kilometres were captured during the ongoing conflict, which began nearly four years ago.

“Despite claims of battlefield momentum in Ukraine, the data shows that Russia is paying an extraordinary price for minimal gains and is increasingly a declining power,” CSIS said in its annual assessment.

“These results fall decisively short of Moscow’s goal to militarily conquer Ukraine,” the report continued.

The annual report was released after a fresh round of peace talks took place between Russia, Ukraine and the United States in Abu Dhabi last week.

US officials said the talks were “productive” but have since suggested that Ukraine may be required to cede territory to Russia if it wants American security guarantees.

Sources told the Financial Times that any security guarantees were contingent on Kyiv striking a deal with Moscow, which has demanded significant territorial concessions.

Ukraine, however, wants the US to fully commit to providing security guarantees before it considers giving up any land.

Washington believes Ukraine must give up the remainder of the Donbas for the war to end.

Kupiansk Becomes a Death Trap for Russia’s Own Infantry Regiment

Illustrative image. A Russian soldier patrols a destroyed residential area in the Ukrainian city of Severodonetsk on July 12, 2022. (Source: Getty Images)

Russian forces have effectively trapped their own 122nd Motorized Rifle Regiment in the city of Kupiansk after prematurely reporting the area as “captured” on official paperwork while active fighting continues on the ground, according to Ukraine’s partisan movement Atesh on January 29.

A partisan agent embedded within the regiment said the unit is facing a critical situation on the Kupiansk axis. In an apparent attempt to quickly demonstrate progress to senior leadership, the regiment’s command reported that Russian forces had taken over several positions in the city and surrounding areas.

In official Russian documents, those locations are now listed as “rear areas.” In reality, heavy fighting is still ongoing there. As a result, Russian assault groups operating in dense urban terrain have been left unable to request fire support or reinforcements.

According to the source, calls for artillery strikes against Ukrainian machine-gun nests and sniper positions are being rejected. Artillery units are acting strictly on headquarters reports that designate the coordinates as friendly-controlled territory, meaning fire missions in those areas are prohibited.

This bureaucratic disconnect has worked directly in Ukraine’s favor. With artillery commanders refusing to open fire, Russian assault units are left exposed and unsupported during ongoing engagements.  .  .

▪️ No communication: mobile phones are dead, there is no way to call for help or an ambulance;

▪️ Sick people cannot use life-sustaining medical equipment because there is no electricity at home;

▪️ Mothers of small kids carry their children and strollers up staircases in high-rise buildings - along with water and food;

▪️ No hot meals and no possibility to cook food at home;

▪️ Sewer system failures, creating critical and dangerous conditions;

▪️ Illness caused by extreme cold and the inability to stay warm;

▪️ Children cannot attend schools because there is no heating. Distance learning is also impossible without electricity;

▪️ Kindergartens are closed, mothers cannot work, earn money to feed their children;

▪️ Stray animals are freezing to death on the streets;

▪️ Even pets are dying from the cold - parrots, aquarium fish, animals kept in terrariums;

▪️ Animals in zoos are freezing;

▪️ Collections of rare plants in Kyiv’s botanical gardens have frozen and died;

▪️ Small businesses are earning nothing, forced to spend money on generators and fuel - causing direct losses to the economy;

▪️ Severe harm to the environment and public health due to the constant operation of massive numbers of generators;

▪️ Public transport functions far worse due to power outages; electric transport does not operate at all, leaving people unable to reach work, doctors, or essential services;

▪️ Burst pipes and freezing temperatures are destroying homes, making them uninhabitable;

▪️ Hospitals are forced to cancel planned surgeries, operating in emergency mode and at full capacity;

▪️ Rates of depression, anxiety disorders, and burnout are sharply increasing.

Russia wants to make large Ukrainian cities uninhabitable.

This is a humanitarian catastrophe deliberately caused by Russia.

If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.     -Dwight Eisenhower-

"The [U.S.] Constitution is a limitation on the government, not on private individuals ... it does not prescribe the conduct of private individuals, only the conduct of the government ... it is not a charter for government power, but a charter of the citizen's protection against the government."     -Ayn Rand-
