IMHO Trump is out of control on this issue, he seems obsessed.

Trump warns US can no longer think ‘purely of peace’ as he pushes for Greenland control

President Donald Trump warned that he no longer feels obligated to think "purely of peace" as he argued the United States must have "complete and total control" of Greenland.

In a text exchange with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, Trump wrote: "Dear Jonas: Considering your Country decided not to give me the Nobel Peace Prize for having stopped 8 Wars PLUS, I no longer feel an obligation to think purely of Peace, although it will always be predominant, but can now think about what is good and proper for the United States of America."

"Denmark cannot protect that land from Russia or China, and why do they have a ‘right of ownership’ anyway? There are no written documents, it’s only that a boat landed there hundreds of years ago, but we had boats landing there, also," he wrote.

"I have done more for NATO than any other person since its founding, and now, NATO should do something for the United States," Trump wrote. "The World is not secure unless we have Complete and Total Control of Greenland. Thank you! President DJT."...........

There are legitimate geopolitical reasons for the United States to control Greenland - primarily to prevent China and/or Russia from controlling the Arctic and its natural resources.

The President has made the mistake of personalizing the matter, rather than making a cogent argument. His cringe-worthy letter to Norway's Ambassador was entirely self-referential and ignores the fact that Greenland's population does not want us there. You and I may argue with it, but it is not an unimportant fact. The people who live there matter.

As is the case too often, Trump wants to do the right thing for America, but does so in a way that makes it all about him, reducing the chances for success. He needs to make a better argument than what he has done so far, which is to bitch about not winning the Nobel Prize. Obama won that piece of nothing for doing nothing, so what is his point?
"If all men are created equal, that is final. If they are endowed with inalienable rights, that is final. If governments derive their just powers from the consent of the governed, that is final. No advance, no progress can be made beyond these propositions. If anyone wishes to deny their truth or their soundness, the only direction in which he can proceed historically is not forward, but backward toward the time when there was no equality, no rights of the individual, no rule of the people."    -Calvin Coolidge

I understand that but to intimidate and announce that you're going to take over a country, is provoking and certainly not peaceful.

Isn't this ⬆️ pretty much how you feel about nearly everything Trump does?   happy77

The middle of his negotiations are always difficult for some .... My suggestion is to just sit back and let it play out. It is fascinating to watch.

*****rollingeyes*****   No, I don't feel that way about nearly everything Trump does.  Quite the opposite.

Negotiations are one thing, and pushing to take over ... well ... that's no longer a negotiation, that's a threat.

Hardly seen as a negotiation....

Denmark ramps up defenses in Greenland as Trump zeros in on control of territory

Denmark on Monday ramped up its military presence in Greenland, deploying extra troops to the strategic Arctic territory amid escalating tensions with President Donald Trump.

Local Danish broadcaster TV 2 said the Danish Armed Forces confirmed a new contingent of troops, described as "a substantial contribution," were arriving at Greenland’s main international airport Monday night.

Maj. Gen. Søren Andersen, head of Denmark’s Arctic Command, said about 100 Danish soldiers have already arrived in Nuuk, Greenland’s capital, with others later deployed to Kangerlussuaq in western Greenland.

The new military move comes in the wake of comments made by Trump over the region's strategic and military importance. ..........

........."NATO has been telling Denmark, for 20 years, that ‘you have to get the Russian threat away from Greenland,’" Trump wrote.

"Unfortunately, Denmark has been unable to do anything about it. Now it is time, and it will be done!!!" he said...........

I've heard this is an interesting tactic from Trump to get Denmark to shore up their defenses. Interesting argument. IMO it's wrong-headed.

It might be. Seems reinforcements were moved in, in platoon strength.

We can take a page out of the 2003 Iraq Invasion playbook:

- America is liberating Greenland from its Viking colonial oppressors to make it safe for Democracy.
- Greenland has weapons of mass destruction - melting glaciers.
- Trump is finishing the job Truman started.
- A walrus recently bought yellow-cake uranium from Niger.
- A narwhal was seen meeting with Saddam Hussein's mustache groomer in Prague.
- Al Queda is recruiting polar bears.

If that were actually true, why was at least one "protestor" wearing a red MAGA hat?

I've seen a couple of MAGA hats among the crowds in Minneapolis. If I were there, I'd probably wear one too, but it doesn't prove a thing.

Here is a recent poll of Greenland citizens. They do not want us there.
