Lawmaker Unveils Bill To Prevent DUI Charges For Drunk Horseback Riding
https://cowboystatedaily.com/2026/01/08/lawmaker-unveils-bill-to-prevent-dui-charges-for-drunk-horseback-riding/

Quote:
A state representative from Casper wants to keep people from being charged with drunk driving if they're drunk while riding a horse, mule or donkey. The bill made one defense attorney laugh and left prosecutors wondering if a specific case inspired it.

Thank goodness, it is about time! Why has it took so long to do this.

Which one is allowed to be drunk?  The horse or the rider?

The mule was sober, my friend Bob was not. Convicted of DUI, even though the mule knew the way home and would not endanger itself or Bob in traffic. True story.

Seventeen Techniques for Truth Suppression

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

As the story goes my brothers BIL got a DUI walking his bike home from the liquor store with an opened  12 pack of beer in the bikes basket.

Ok ... but ... don't they have more important legislation to write?
Live in  harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly, do not claim to be wiser than you are.  Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all.  If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all.

You would think. It's not likely someone is going to kill anybody RWI.

We used to have a man around here that would ride his riding lawn mower to town after a Budweiser or two or three or ten. Not much chance of a fatality.

Actually I'm picturing an inebriated guy riding his lawnmower into town -- I see it as a bit humorous.

He must have been a George Jones fan.

*Facts* I could recount a couple of those stories myself.
And another friend knew he was too drunk to drive, so he went to walk home the mile and a half. That's the right thing to do. He got busted for 'drunk in public', minding his own business walking home.

DIP brings all the trouble a DUI does, to include a whopping $5000 fine,  blue-tagged his automotive insurance, and mandatory spin-dry.

They've taken it altogether too far.

What a coincidence. Today, I heard Toby Keith's song "Beer for My Horses."
