The Trump administration recently overhauled the food pyramid, essentially flipping it upside down to emphasize protein, dairy and fats and put less emphasis on whole grains and carbohydrates.

In the latest dietary guidelines, the Trump USDA urged people to prioritize 'real food' and eat more protein, fruits, vegetables and dairy.

For the first time, it also recommended Americans avoid highly processed, packaged and ready-to-eat foods such as chips, cookies and candies.

Refined carbohydrates, like white bread, and sugar-sweetened beverages, such as soda, fruit juice and energy drinks, were also off the list.

This was a departure from previous guidelines, which said Americans could have these foods as long as they stayed within daily limits of nutrients and added sugar.

Unveiling the guidelines at a White House press conference yesterday, Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F Kennedy Jr said: 'These guidelines return us to the basics.

'American households must prioritize whole, nutrient-dense foods — protein, dairy, vegetables, fruits, healthy fats and whole grains — and dramatically reduce highly processed foods.'

He added: 'This is how we Make America Healthy Again.'

Stupid headline. Trump isn't overhauling anyone's diet. They are recommendations. Keep eating nothing but Cheetos if you like, the government won't stop you.

I remember cereal commercials as a kid. Every cereal would show eggs and bacon and grapefruit and orange juice with the bowl of cereal.
Then the announcer would say, SugerPuffs are a recommended *part* of a balanced breakfast. I doubt it.

Actually, he is just recommending what I normally eat. Meat, dairy, eggs, veggies, once in a while an onion bagel. Virtually no bread, pasta, potatoes, and rarely fruit.

As for roadkill, well if it's fresh (get on the HP list, they'll call when one gets hit). Not much difference what takes that deer out, bullet or bumper, just salvage the undamaged meat and it doesn't go to waste. (Some are not salvageable--avoid the ones semis hit full-on).

I've been eating a 'real' diet for years.  The only thing that I never resumed eating after they put me on a supposed heart-healthy diet is bacon.

Mrs Nut had a doc appointment the other day. This guy is notoriously late.  So there was a Waffle House a block away. So I sauntered over to grab a bite.  Ordered 2 eggs over easy, extra crispy hashbrowns, grits and a side of bacon.  It was to die for.
