Federal prosecutor calls Newsom 'king of fraud' as Trump launches California corruption probe
Top prosecutor says millions in fraud uncovered, more charges coming

The Trump administration is ramping up a nationwide crackdown on the misuse of taxpayer money. A top federal prosecutor criticized California Gov. Gavin Newsom over a lack of oversight, branding him the "king of fraud."

"California has spent $24 billion in the last five years on homelessness, and no one can account for where that money has really gone," First Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Central District of California Bill Essayli said Thursday on "Fox & Friends."

In April, Essayli launched a task force to investigate corruption in California, with a focus on homeless services. The task force has already resulted in federal charges against two men accused of using real estate projects to exploit the state’s homelessness system for personal profit.

Essayli said those cases, which involve millions of dollars in alleged fraud, are only the "tip of the iceberg."

Here’s where @GavinNewsom admits in his new book that he graduated college due to a disability waiver for dyslexia because he failed a required statistics course twice.

After talking about how his girlfriend cheated on him with his roommate.

“I returned to Santa Clara, only to discover that my girlfriend, Becky, had fallen in love with my roommate, Craig. I'd had no inkling of a spark between them. Because of my time in Europe, the months of distance, it wasn't exactly heartbreak. Becky and Craig made a great couple and would go on to marry. I found an apartment closer to campus and tried to wrap my brain around a statistics class that stood between me and graduation. I failed it once and then failed it again. Finally I made an appointment with my adviser. Stats aren't about numbers, I told him. If it were about numbers, I'd have sailed through it. The concepts that underlie it, all these relational things going on, just scramble my brain.

"Are you dyslexic?" he asked.

"Yes."

"Well, why didn't you tell me that?"

A college education at a Jesuit school had apparently progressed to the point that dyslexia was now part of the lexicon of disabilities that merited leeway. He signed a waiver, and I was handed my diploma. This led to a conversation with my father in which he presented a lawyerly case that law school might frustrate my brain the same way stats had.”
