" U.S. is short between roughly 1.5 million and 5.5 million homes."  Because they are currently occupied by Illegal Aliens?

... illegal aliens ... Wall Street owned short-term and long-term rentals ... NIMBY zoning laws ... available land being banked by communities as "conservation land" ... short answer, the problem is Government

If there is a buck to be made, developers will build it ... until Government gets in the way.

Many communities do not want to grow, but, they do want new $100 million middle school buildings.

Government funds should be directed to YIMBY communities, and let NIMBY communities starve for funding, public transportation stations, etc.

Or by people pushed out of other housing options by them. No way 20,000,000 people just pitched tents, and illegals were told to go to the front of the line (with our money).

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

There really isn't a housing shortage.  People just need to move where the houses are!

Same as Sam Kinison's solution to the famine in Africa. YOU LIVE IN A DESERT! NOTHING GROWS. NOTHING’S GONNA GROW HERE!

Move to where the food is!

You don’t become cooler with age but you do care progressively less about being cool, which is the only true way to actually be cool.
