Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s newly appointed tenant advocate called to “seize private property” and blasted home ownership as a “weapon of white supremacy” in a series of pro-communist social media posts.

Cea Weaver, Mamdani’s new director of the city Office to Protect Tenants, made the statements and urged her followers to elect more communists in several lecturing posts on her now-deleted X account that were unearthed by internet sleuths.

“Seize private property!” she said on June 13, 2018.
 
She later doubled down on that in a mini-manifesto on August 2019.

“Private property including any kind of ESPECIALLY homeownership is a weapon of white supremacy,” she said then.

I did. But at the time I graduated, the tuition was 1/10 of that. Which I paid by working summers, obviously because I suffered from the effects of White Supremacy, by which I assumed that I needed to support myself by honest labor.

NYC's new socialist mayor appoints woke housing tsar who proudly declared her ambition to make life hell for white people

New York City mayor Zohran Mamdani's newly-appointed tsar for renters posted a slew of offensive tweets sharing her plans to target ordinary working white people.

Cea Weaver, a progressive 'housing justice' activist, was named Mamdani's new director of the city's Office to Protect Tenants on his first day in the role.

The 37-year-old has vowed to launch a 'new era of standing up for tenants and fighting for safe, stable, and affordable homes.'

But her promise is now being scrutinized after internet sleuths unearthed a collection of controversial old posts she made on a now-deleted X account.

Weaver's tweets saw her call to 'impoverish the white middle-class' and brand homeownership as 'racist' and 'failed public policy.'

She called to 'seize private property' and even made a racial claim that 'homeownership is a weapon of white supremacy.'

Weaver further urged officials to endorse a platform banning white men from running for office, as well as reality TV stars.

The controversial tweets were posted between 2017 and 2019. It is unclear if Weaver, who most recently served as the executive director of two organizations that advocate for tenant protections, still shares these viewpoints today.

New York Governor Kathy Hochul recently announced billions in new spending for a ‘free’ childcare program, while flanked by newly sworn-in New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani.

What could possibly go wrong?

They’re only doing this as the state of Minnesota is imploding under the weight of a massive fraud scandal involving daycare centers. Talk about having no sense of timing.

    Hochul and Mamdani to unveil free child care plan in New York City

    New York City parents may soon have access to free child care for their 2-year-olds, under a plan set to be unveiled Thursday by Gov. Kathy Hochul and Mayor Zohran Mamdani.

    The two Democrats are expected to detail the program at a news conference Thursday morning, along with a pledge from Hochul to pursue a wider, statewide free child care initiative.

    “There’s one thing that every family in New York can agree on, the cost of childcare is simply too high,” Hochul said in a statement. “As New York’s first mom Governor, fighting for New York’s families has always been at the core of my agenda.”

I happened to spend New Year’s Eve in the year 2000 and January 1st of 2001 in New York City. On the first morning of the actual new millennium (not the falsely celebrated one in 2000), I took the dizzying elevator up to the top of the Empire State Building and admired the iconic skyline. I wanted to commemorate the moment and had my photo taken with the Twin Towers in the background.

It was a time of innocence, when no one knew what would befall the free world nine months and ten days later. New York was bustling, invigorating, and safe under Giuliani, and so symbolically American that people on both sides of the political spectrum could revel in a genuinely good time together on New Year’s Eve at Times Square.

Fast-forward to December 31, 2023. My family and I were enjoying a festive drink at home in anticipation of 2024 and switching through the TV channels. We watched Paul Anka sing “Imagine” at Times Square. I have always instinctively disliked the lyrics of “Imagine,” despite the phenomenal musical talent of John Lennon and the Beatles, whom I adored in my youth.

Authors like Melanie Phillips have pointed out the fallacy of the message promoted by “Imagine.” Kathleen Hayes explains:

    “Imagine there’s no countries | It isn’t hard to do | Nothing to kill or die for | And no religion too.”

    What could be wrong with John Lennon’s “Imagine” — a song many of us listened to endlessly in high school — and his dream of a peaceful “brotherhood of man”? Everything, says Melanie Phillips in her brilliant new book “The Builder’s Stone: How Jews and Christians Built the West — and Why Only They Can Save It.”

There are things worth dying and, terrible as it is to contemplate, killing for. A society that no longer believes this is spiritually empty and threatened with collapse. Lennon’s anthem isn’t just saccharine (as those high schoolers often decide when they get older) but, in a sense, the perfect expression of what’s wrong today in the West.

New York University has taken down the page for a class taught by New York City mayor Zohran Mamdani’s (D.) housing czar, Cea Weaver, after Weaver’s anti-white social media posts and communist views resurfaced this month. An NYU professor who has worked with Weaver told the Washington Free Beacon the school deleted Weaver’s information to protect her from "harassment."

Gianpaolo Baiocchi, a professor of sociology who founded the university’s Urban Democracy Lab, said NYU "took her page down to protect her privacy" upon learning "of the harassment she was facing." Baiocchi, who like Weaver was named to Mamdani’s transition team late last year, was arrested for participating in a pro-Hamas encampment at the university in the spring of 2024.
 
Baiocchi did not specify the content of the "harassment" Weaver faced, but he may have had in mind an incident last week when reporters confronted Weaver about her past statements that included denouncing private property as a "weapon of white supremacy," calling to "impoverish the *white* middle class," and arguing that "homeownership is racist." Weaver burst into tears when reporters asked how she could square her attacks against homeowners with the fact that her own mother owns a $1.6 million property in Nashville.
