Mamdani takes his oath on a Quran
And what about all the violent verses in that book?

According to the AP, when being sworn in as mayor of New York City today, Zohran Mamdani will “put his hand on the Quran, Islam’s holiest book, making him the first mayor in New York City to do so.”
Because Mamdani has chosen to take his oath of office on the Quran, he needs to be asked if he rejects various verses in the Quran that advocate forcing Islam upon people. Verse 8:38 states, “Tell the disbelievers that if they desist, their past will be forgiven. But if they persist, then they have an example in those destroyed before them.” Verse 9:29 states, “Fight those who do not believe in Allah and the Last Day, nor comply with what Allah and His Messenger have forbidden, nor embrace the religion of truth from among those who were given the Scripture, until they pay the tax, willingly submitting, fully humbled.” Verse 9:33 states, “He is the One Who has sent His Messenger with true guidance and the religion of truth, making it prevail over all others, even to the dismay of the polytheists.”
Questions also arise about the dominant media and public office-holders other than Mamdani. Given the mainstream media’s silence about these verses in its article, will anybody in the dominant media quote the verses in their stories about Mamdani’s oath ceremony? Will the entire dominant media emulate the AP and fail to ask Mamdani if he rejects these verses? Will anybody who holds public office challenge Mamdani to reject these verses or explain his reasons for not doing so?
