California yanks truck licenses in major crackdown

The Department of Transportation and California officials are in conflict over 17,000 commercial driver’s licenses flagged for expired work authorizations. Transportation Secretary Duffy urged revocations and withheld federal funds, while California Gov. Gavin Newsom defended state procedures. California plans to revoke the licenses under a rule linking validity to lawful immigration status.
 
Secretary of State Marco Rubio said, “Effective immediately, we are pausing all issuance of worker visas for commercial truck drivers.” He added, “The increasing number of foreign drivers operating large tractor-trailer trucks on U.S. roads is endangering American lives and undercutting the livelihoods of American truckers.”

Duffy noted that federal investigators found improper licenses, restricted visas, and revoked $40 million over English‑language enforcement failures. More funds will possibly be withheld until California fixes the issues.
 
A class-action lawsuit has been filed by affected immigrant truckers against the California DMV to block the planned revocations of their commercial driver’s licenses, arguing the process violated due-process rights and harms livelihoods. The case is now active in court with multiple advocacy groups are representing drivers.

Immigrant this, immigrant that, not even "undocumented" any more.

How about for the sake of clarity the media start mentioning whether these people are here legally or not?

Or are we simply to assume in the garbled leftist newspeak of what passes for journalism in this day and age that unless specified otherwise, they are all here in some form of violation of our immigration laws?
