Fake ‘Meat’ Products Offer No Health Benefits Over Real Food, Study Finds

A new peer-reviewed study is pouring cold water on one of the plant-based industry’s biggest selling points, finding that highly processed fake “meat” substitutes offer no clear cardiovascular benefit over real food and, in some cases, may be nutritionally worse.

The news is a blow to globalists pushing the products onto the public and companies producing fake “chicken” and “beef,” such as Bill Gates’s Beyond Meat.

Researchers from the U.K. and Singapore followed 82 adults at risk for Type 2 diabetes over an eight-week trial, dividing them into two groups: one that consumed traditional meat and another that ate popular plant-based meat alternatives such as fake sausages, burgers, and nuggets.

The results were published in The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.

It seems like Gates is involved in just about every new scam that comes along.

There are some people who prefer vegetables/fruits over meat and that's fine, everybody's different. But if you miss meat so badly you need to create plant meat to make up for it... that's where I draw the line. Just eat the real thing.

No surprise.  I've named him Dr. Evil.  He's just plain pure evil.

Bogey-Gates does not own Beyond Meat. It's stock is publicly traded. Because Gates was among quite a few companies that provided early venture funding, plus gobs of celebrity-investors, he might own some stock. Given its recent travails, he might have prudently dumped it. Beyond Meat has laid off a lot of employees over the past 3 years, because its sales have done poorly.

Beyond Meat is (possibly soon, was) the intersection of pop-culture fashion and virtue-signaling. For good food you won't care is vegetarian, go to a vegetarian Indian restaurant.

Meat, potatoes, fruits and vegetables.  No fake fillers or imitation foods with nasty coloring and added flavors.

I have to laugh at the hospitals -- they serve you what is supposedly healthy food.  What a flippin' joke -- that food goes right through you and every meal is about the same with some sort of unidentifiable meat with just a different gravy.  That's why people lose weight while they're in the hospital.  Who can stomach the crappola that they serve?  Heart healthy?  So, margarine which is plastic and fake sugars and low fat food filled with preservatives is healthy??  The safest thing that I have discovered in the hospital that is actual food is cottage cheese and applesauce or oatmeal.

Several doctors that I have seen recently have commented that hospital food isn't real food. No doubts there at all.

If the patient is not on a special diet, visitors can bring in whatever the patient wants.  I've brought all kinds of stuff to friends in the hospital.   Subs, cheeseburgers, pizza, anything.
I don’t owe tolerance to people who disagree with my existence.
I will NOT comply.

Ya, I realized that after awhile -- I was on a low carb heart healthy diet -- so sneaking things in was a no-no. The hospital that I was in does have a Subway -- but I'm not real fond of their deli meat, but likely healthier than hospital cuisine and tastes a whole lot better.

My weakness is cheeseburgers ... (Not McD's) .....

Prior to me leaving -- on one of my adventurous walks without a nurse or a CNA hovering over me -- I did come across a vending machine -- cookies, chips, crackers and I would put them in my gown pocket  -- maybe not the healthiest but it was something different.

Yer an angel!

I spent 10 days in the hospital back in September, pneumonia. The food was so bland it was barely palatable (cue the cooking competition show line, "Needs seasoning"). After several days I figured out that the curry was decent (of all the things I though the hospital kitchen would mess up, curry was at the top of my mental list). Not great, but palatable. A Togos #10 or #23 would have been great, but not allowed.

Subway is to deli-style sandwiches as M or BK are to hamburgers, mediocrity.

Hospital food? What did you expect from people who can screw up green Jello?

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Wouldn't you know it, my "this day in" feature on social media turned up this morning three years ago today, the day I first taste-tested Beyond Meat. I wrote:

"It has a consistency that's closer to shoe leather, and whatever it tasted like (I mean, it's basically bean protein and starches), it didn't taste like meat. To use an analogy, juice is to Kool-Aid as beef is to... whatever this was."

No wonder it didn't last very long.
