Court battle erupts over deportation decision
Story by David Wilson • 20h

Federal Judge Paula Xinis in Maryland has prohibited Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) from re-detaining Abrego Garcia through at least Dec. 26 while the government must clarify its legal basis for custody and deportation efforts.

A temporary order barred ICE from detaining him through the Christmas holiday. Abrego Garcia was released from immigration detention on Dec. 11 after a judge determined the government had previously detained him “without lawful authority.”

Legal advocates have criticized deportation efforts, citing potential due process violations amid ongoing court proceedings. The Department of Justice (DOJ) noted that Liberia has agreed to accept Abrego Garcia while U.S. hearings continue.

So, now that Dec. 26 has passed, has the government provided the necessary "clarification"?
