Can the Dark Ages Return? › American Greatness
Victor Davis Hanson

Western civilization arose in the 8th century B.C. Greece. Some 1,500 city-states emerged from a murky, illiterate 400-year-old Dark Age. That chaos followed the utter collapse of the palatial culture of Mycenaean Greece.

But what reemerged were constitutional government, rationalism, liberty, freedom of expression, self-critique, and free markets—what we know now as the foundation of a unique Western civilization.

The Roman Republic inherited and enhanced the Greek model.

For a millennium, the Republic and subsequent Empire spread Western culture, eventually to be inseparable from Christianity.

From the Atlantic to the Persian Gulf and from the Rhine and Danube to the Sahara, there were a million square miles of safety, prosperity, progress, and science—until the collapse of the Western Roman Empire in the 5th century AD.

What followed was a second European Dark Age, roughly from 500 to 1000 AD.

Populations declined. Cities eroded. Roman roads, aqueducts, and laws crumbled.

"If all men are created equal, that is final. If they are endowed with inalienable rights, that is final. If governments derive their just powers from the consent of the governed, that is final. No advance, no progress can be made beyond these propositions. If anyone wishes to deny their truth or their soundness, the only direction in which he can proceed historically is not forward, but backward toward the time when there was no equality, no rights of the individual, no rule of the people."    -Calvin Coolidge

Yes.

There probably have been multiple "Dark Ages" throughout human history.
"Political correctness is a doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it’s entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end." - Alan Simpson, Frontline Video Interview

It certainly is possible, we are seeing the deterioration right now, but hope springs eternal.
I don’t owe tolerance to people who disagree with my existence.
I will NOT comply.

Yep, and with it, the rising tide of muslims are set to destroy Western Civilization for the second time.

Yes, a "new dark age" could return after islam defeats Western Civilization -- a worldwide jihad which is currently in progress with NOTHING of substance currently being done to stop it.

However, some parts of the world will resist and survive.
I'm thinking in particular of the Chinese, who have enough cultural cohesion and a large enough population to successfully oppose islam, both militarily and ideologically.

As we've seen, the Chinese are relatively unabashed in dealing with their own internal "islamic problems". You may not like what they do with muslims, but they're playing to win.

We... are not.

Perhaps the Japanese will also prevail against islam.

If some of the nations of Eastern Europe band together, they too might survive. Perhaps what's needed is some kind of "Warsaw Pact II", with these nations uniting this time for... Christian-based freedom.

Russia might survive.

Apart from that, where will the English-speaking whites end up (what's left of them)?
Perhaps New Zealand, but will there be enough of them to fight off islamic invasion?
Perhaps Iceland, where muslims may not be interested in going.

How many centuries will the coming dark age last...?

First picture is the societal benefit of people growing up with discipline in the home

Second picture? It’s obvious.
"I have little interest in streamlining government or in making it more efficient, for I mean to reduce its size. I do not undertake to promote welfare, for I propose to extend freedom. My aim is not to pass laws, but to repeal them." Barry Goldwater
