Trump announces primetime address to the nation
« on: December 16, 2025, 02:28:24 pm »
The article goes one to his talk about tariffs but it also clearly states that he has not clarified a topic.  The initial headlines on this article is misleading; Trump vows to send Americans $2K checks from massive tariff revenue if re-elected.

Trump announces primetime address to the nation

President Donald Trump will give an address to the nation live from the White House on Wednesday night, he announced on Tuesday.

Trump teased the address in a statement on social media, saying the speech will take place at 9 p.m. ET on Wednesday. He has not clarified a topic for the address.

"My Fellow Americans: I will be giving an ADDRESS TO THE NATION tomorrow night, LIVE FROM THE WHITE HOUSE, at 9 P.M. EST. I look forward to 'seeing' you then. It has been a great year for our Country, and THE BEST IS YET TO COME!" Trump wrote.

Trump last formally addressed the nation in November after two members of the West Virginia National Guard were shot in the nation's capital.

The Trump administration has touted its economic agenda throughout the closing months of the year. Trump himself has highlighted his tariff agenda and pushed last month for Americans to receive payment checks funded by tariff revenues. He vowed that "hundreds of millions of dollars in tariff money" would be distributed as dividends by mid-2026.

"We've taken in hundreds of millions of dollars in tariff money. We're going to be issuing dividends probably by the middle of next year, maybe a little bit later than that," Trump told reporters in the Oval Office.

The president first floated the idea in early November, saying he would use tariff revenue to send $2,000 payments to low- and middle-income Americans, with any remaining funds directed toward paying down the nation’s soaring debt...........

He is going to Fire Pam Bondi.

That would be wonderful but I doubt that's going to happen.

He will likely bring up tariffs and the economy.  Will see.   Normally his speeches are great!

And he’s going to  tell Americans to ignore their own experiences and just believe what he tells them

As far as him handing out checks in order to try to buy the midterms, somebody needs to send him the link in my profile to the US debt  clock

And are these so-called tariff checks coming with the DOGE savings checks he promised earlier this year?

Good grief ... he hasn't even made his speech yet.  Once again, he gives great speeches and has the inherent ability to connect with people.  He's addressing the country -- I believe his speech will be in good taste and speaking about what direction he's going to take this country.

He's done a tremendous job at securing the border and bridging relations with other countries.

Doubtful he's going to address checks going out  -- SCOTUS hasn't ruled and I'm sure he's well aware NOT to make broken promises -- it will destroy his reputation as one of the greatest president's this country has ever had as well as being detrimental to the midterms and the GOP.

Lol…sure

Why do you think there’s going to  be something different when he’s still out there telling people that the affordability issues is a  hoax and that he’s crushed in inflation

Trump is in deep denial about the state of the economy. Begging people to see the economy the same way he sees it is simply not going to sell.

Just about every mistake that was made by the Biden administration that ended up costing the democrats the election, this administration is saying “hold our beer.”

What are you talking about? He’s made all kinds of promises .

1) he would work bring prices down on day one

2) Stated there is enough savings from DOGE to send out checks

3) said his tariffs wouldn’t raise costs or affect the economy which they have

4) said earlier this year he was gonna balance the budget. That’s gone.

And he and his supporters blaming everything, and everyone for his mounting failures is not going to sell to voters

And they are not buying it. That’s why Democrats have been winning elections this year and his approval rating is in the trash

The GOP is going into next year with a major problem. And that problem is sitting in the White House.

You know that their democrat opponents are going to hammer them over the affordability issue and the economy and ask them if they agree with Donald Trump’s assessment

Trump Schedules Primetime Oval Office Address

Trending Politics News
By Cullen McCue
December 16, 202

President Donald Trump announced Wednesday that he will be delivering an address to the nation at 9 p.m. Eastern Time on the following day.

“My Fellow Americans: I will be giving an ADDRESS TO THE NATION tomorrow night, LIVE FROM THE WHITE HOUSE, at 9 P.M. EST,” Trump posted on Truth Social. “I look forward to ‘seeing’ you then. It has been a great year for our Country, and THE BEST IS YET TO COME!”

As of this report, no specific details have been released about the exact topics. However, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated during a briefing that the speech will focus on reviewing the accomplishments of the past 11 months and outline policy goals for the upcoming year.

“He’ll be addressing the country about all of his historic accomplishments over the past year, and maybe teasing some policy that will be coming in the new year,” Leavitt said while speaking with Fox News.

That’s a strawman

But what happens if he promises or suggest even that he’ll send out tariff checks and the Supreme Court rules against him? Any money from tariffs would have to be paid back.

So what is he gonna say? He’s either gonna stick with “affordability is a hoax” or be forced to admit that he was wrong and the Democrats were right

And that’s not going to happen.

Telling Trump to not go off script?  Right.  Most of his speeches are at least in part off script. That his personality, that's his connection with people, so ... I don't see that happening.

It seems most in here see him as flopping -- I've never seen a bad Trump speech; quite the opposite.

Trump Schedules Primetime Oval Office Address

Trending Politics News
By Cullen McCue
December 16, 202

President Donald Trump announced Wednesday that he will be delivering an address to the nation at 9 p.m. Eastern Time on the following day.

That sounds like a State Of The Union address. That doesn't typically happen until January.
I didn't go to sleep and miss a few weeks did I?

Cynically I would say he loves to be on tv and bring his horn to toot.  But I'll give him the benefit of a doubt and think maybe he is starting to campaign early for 2016 mid-terms.

Well, it's not a state of the union address, so perhaps it will be Christmas themed loaded with his accomplishments and what he hopes to accomplish in the next 2 years.

I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.

The economy and the affordability issue

Democrats have been running on, and winning, on the issue.

Trump has claimed that it’s nothing more than a Democrat hoax and his administration has crushed inflation. That’s the position he’s taken in the last several days.

So is he going to admit tomorrow that there is an issue with costs and how they affect the American people, thereby admitting Democrats were right, or is he gonna stick with the “hoax” script?

Trump's inflation numbers are acceptable and within the norm.

Year    Jan   Feb   Mar   Apr   May   Jun   Jul   Aug   Sep
2025    3.0   2.8   2.4   2.3   2.4   2.7   2.7   2.9   3.0

What Trump needs to communicate is that the 20% total inflation under Biden, caused by out-of-control spending, was permanent, as all inflation numbers are permanent and cumulative.

You know that their democrat opponents are going to hammer them over the affordability issue and the economy and ask them if they agree with Donald Trump’s assessment

The "affordability" issue is something completely created by the Democrats.

Biden accounted for @21.1% inflation in 2021 alone, and that does not go away.

Inflation is permanent and cumulative.

Insofar as the "Affordable Care Act", it made health insurance prices skyrocket.

None is the GOP's fault.

It doesn't mean that they won't lie about it during elections, but we just have to drive those points home.

It appears, judging from some of the comments, that some believe all this is nothing more than a messaging problem on the part of Donald Trump and the GOP.

Biden and the Democrats believed the same thing

So it appears “affordability is a Democrat hoax” and “Biden’s fault”  is going to  be the message for next year’s midterms.

Good luck

No one is saying that affordability is a hoax. At least I am not.

It is however a problem entirely created by the Democrats. The GOP should be able to easily explain that to the people.

Prices didn’t get high under Trump. They got high when Biden’s spending orgy launched a 21% inflation  climb in eighteen months.

That number doesn’t “go away”. The next year’s inflation builds on it.

Biden reset the economy without addressing the wages, and now we can’t afford shit.

Donald Trump, for the last several days, has claimed affordability is a hoax and that he’s crushed inflation

He’s also claiming we’re in a “golden age” while the rest of his staff and supporters are screaming “Biden’s fault.”

Back in July, Lutnick said we were in the Trump economy

Then in September, he moved that to the end of this year

Now that we’re at the end of the year, that’s been moved to sometime next year

Again, it’s not a messaging problem .

Again, it’s not a messaging issue.

Well… the stock market is through the roof, so my investments and everyone’s 401K’s are jamming.

My homestead has valued significantly.

Corporations are making profits, and tech is running faster than the speed of (human) thought.

All those things are true.

That we can’t afford shit while the economy is exploding around us, is a direct result of Biden’s resetting of the economy via money printing. He single-handedly drove the value of the dollar down 21%+ in a year.

That is also true.

You and the Democrats (feels redundant) can go on blaming Trump (business man and non-politician) for the in-your-face rape of the dollar these past hundred plus years, but that doesn’t change history or the facts.

Ah,  yes. Post something that another poster doesn’t like and their go to is to call me a democrat.

Save it. I’ve heard it all before.

So here’s the GOP’s midterm message seems to be shaping up to be

The affordability crisis is a hoax, but if you can’t afford “shit”  it’s Biden’s fault

We’re in the golden age of the Trump economy. But if we’re not, it’s Biden‘s fault

Donald Trump has crushed inflation(his words not mine). But if inflation is still a problem, it’s Biden’s fault.

It’s Donald Trump and his administration saying these things. You’re just upset because I’m pointing them out.

It wasn’t me who promised those working class voters that he was going to bring prices down on day one

But you go ahead and tell working-class and middle class Americans, many of the same ones that voted for him in 2024  that are finding this economy tougher and tougher to afford things how well your 401(k), corporations, and homestead are doing and see if that works.

Gee, I can’t think of a better midterm message than to tell voters that everything is going great, but if it’s not, it’s the fault of a previous president….lol

You get this, I get this, but there is a group here who expected prices to magically revert to 2018 levels or something.  They can't separate the rate of change (slope of the line) from where the line is on the Y axis in their heads and understand that the rate of change (inflation) in the Biden Era is what made prices high.

Short of deflation, across the board prices will not drop except for some commodities.

I have heard that deflation is bad juju for an economy.

Gas at 53 cents will happen when pigs fly.

Now, the FACT is inflation has not been tamed.  I continue to see prices going up in the Atlanta metro.  PERIOD!!!!!!  Lying about it like Biden did will not serve Republicans.

They will continue lowering interest rates and inflation will build up steam and drive prices up further.  Trump has his back against the wall, because the damage done by Biden is difficult to reverse.  Everyone needs to be patient.

Gas here went down for about one week and it is back up to levels equal or higher than on election day last year.

TRUMP NEEDS TO FOCUS MORE ON GASOLINE/FUEL COST, FOR IT IS ESSENTIAL TO LOWERING THE COST OF JUST ABOUT EVERYTHING.

But Trump is not the problem, it is the do nothing Congress.  All of them, as useless as pimples on the posterior.

Nobody here ever argue that prices are gonna revert the 2018 levels

Another strawman

Im just simply pointing out the inconsistencies that the administration is making on the economy. Doesn’t exactly inspire confidence

And some are upset by that

Donald Trump says that his administration has crushed inflation. Nobody here made that statement. Donald Trump did.

Donald Trump says we’re in the golden age of the economy while part of his administration says we’re gonna have to wait a while. Nobody here said that. Donald Trump and administration did

Donald Trump said the affordability crisis is a hoax. Nobody here said that. Donald Trump said that.

Lutnick said in July Trump owns the economy. Come September, he pushed that to the end of the year. Now that it’s the end of the year, that’s been pushed ahead. Nobody here did that. The administration did

Donald Trump promised his voters that he would bring prices down on day one. Nobody here promised that. Donald Trump did

Now that none of that is working out as promised, the White House and their supporters are reverting back to it’s Biden’s fault. And I say good luck on that.

Polling, along with dismal election results this year, prove that’s not winning over anyone outside Trump’s base

So there’s two messages that you see even here on this site. The economy is doing great. And it’s Joe Biden’s fault….lol

We used to blast the Biden administration, and rightly, so, for constantly blaming Trump.

I think some of you really need to get out of your information bubbles once in a while

People are hurting out there. And those same Hispanic and Gen Z voters that gave Trump his close win in 2024 have voted Democrat this year. And will probably continue that pattern into next year

The Mrs and I are doing ok. But I also recognize that there’s a world outside of my bubble out there

Again, it’s not a messaging problem like some here believe.

And telling them they’re not, but if they are, it’s the fault of the previous administration is simply not going to  lead to electoral Nirvana for the GOP

You’ve been warned😉

And the Trump administration and its supporters are following the same strategy as the previous administration

And for those that believe they’re scoring some kind of points by calling me a Democrat, Leftist, ect, it wasn’t me who said I agree more with Mamdani than disagree…😆

It is however a problem entirely created by the Democrats. The GOP should be able to easily explain that to the people.

"Not my fault" is a very poor message for winning elections.  How'd that work out for the Democrats last cycle?

Again... tell me which part of the economy isn't doing well right now?

I guess you haven't been to a grocery store lately or shopping at big or small businesses.  A pound of ground beef finally hit $9.99 a couple of weeks ago, as predicted, and hot dog franks are at $7.99 for an 8-pack.  The price of bread is pushing $4.00 per loaf now.  I also follow the local community boards on social media and they are full of desperate people looking for jobs...any jobs...and financial help because they have had their utilities shut off, cars repossessed, or been evicted because they can't afford the rents anymore.

I would say that the economy is NOT doing as well as you claim.

President Trump has delivered on reducing energy and oil costs.

Gas prices have dropped and the economy will respond.

That said I think the issue of Venezuela will be the subject and that will also help energy costs.
