At least 2 killed and several more hurt in shooting at Brown University in Rhode Island

Quote
Published Sat, Dec 13 20254:56 PM ESTUpdated 7 Min Ago

At least 2 people were killed and several more injured in a shooting in the area of Brown University on Saturday, a law enforcement official said, as the Ivy League school issued an active shooter alert and urged students and staff to take shelter during the second day of final exams.

Police did not immediately release details about the number of victims, their conditions or the circumstances of the shooting. The official who gave the tally of at least two dead could not publicly discuss details of the ongoing investigation and spoke to AP on condition of anonymity.

University officials initially told students and staff that a suspect was in custody, before later saying that was not the case and that police were still searching for a suspect or suspects, according to alerts issued through Brown’s emergency notification system.

Just as the midterm election cycle starts to ramp up. Media is in full-blown breaking news mode. Dems will be calling for gun control any day now and mocking prayer, all so they can improve their odds of winning the midterms.

Excerpt:
It’s the kind of news that stops you cold—shots ringing out on a college campus, leaving two dead and eight fighting for their lives. That’s the horror that unfolded Saturday afternoon at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, when a gunman in all black burst into the Barus & Holley engineering building around 4:05 p.m. and opened fire. The suspect, described only as a male dressed in black, fled on foot down Hope Street after the attack, which happened after hours but possibly during high traffic from final exams.

It’s too bad they won’t use the media better than that.

How is that the only description after over two hours? How bad is the university build security cameras?

2 students dead, 9 people injured in mass shooting at Brown University
Story by Jonathan Limehouse, Bailey Allen, Katie Landeck, Will Richmond and Dinah Voyles Pulver, USA TODAY • 4h • 13 min read

Multiple people shot after active shooting at Brown University

A gunman killed two students and seriously wounded at least nine other people Dec. 13 in a mass shooting at Brown University's campus in Providence, Rhode Island, sparking a search for the killer that extended into Sunday.

The shooting at the Ivy League University happened shortly before 4:05 p.m. in an engineering building with unlocked doors as final exams were underway. "Based on what we heard from officials at Brown, anybody could have accessed the building at that time," Mayor Brett Smiley said.

"Sadly, today is a day that the city of Providence and the state of Rhode Island prayed would never come," Smiley said. "We've heard about horrific acts of gun violence and active shooter situations in other places, but not here."

A rather smug attitude.  Being a big Ivy League school, I'll bet it supported defunding the police.

Brown University shooting suspect is ARRESTED after 14 hours on the run as two killed and 9 injured on campus

Daily Mail
By CLAUDIA AORAHA
14 December 2025

A person of interest is in custody after two people were killed and multiple were injured in a mass shooting at Brown University in Rhode Island yesterday evening.

Police confirmed one person is in custody, as of 6am Sunday morning. Mayor Brett Smiley said that the people of Providence should breathe a 'small sigh of relief' today.

The first 911 call reporting shots fired at Brown's prestigious engineering building was made at 4.05pm on Saturday afternoon, in the midst of students' end of semester exam season.

Late on Saturday night, police released a short clip of a person of interest walking as he turns the corner on Waterman Street.

The same man in the video - wearing a full black outfit - was detained amid a flurry of police activity around 3am at a hotel in Coventry, Rhode Island, CNN reports.

It was at that unnamed hotel that the suspect was arrested.

Terrified students at the Ivy League school were made to shelter in place for hours overnight. That has now been lifted, as of 7am Sunday morning.

Mayor Smiley confirmed at a press conference at 7am on Sunday that there will be an enhanced police presence in Providence today for the 'comfort and reassurance of our community' as the investigation continues.

That is simply made up.  Maybe prestigious to the people of Rhode Island, but the engineering school does not crack the top 50 in US rankings.

I wonder what else is made up in the article?

🚨 HOLY CRAP! A reporter just PUMMELED the President of Brown University for having NO ANSWERS on the mass shooting

REPORTER: “President, with all due respect, SIX HOURS after the shooting, and you DON’T KNOW what was going on in that classroom??! How does that happen? Were they taking an exam? Was it a club?”

PRES: “I don’t know.”

REPORTER: “Six hours later, you’re the President, and you don’t know. That’s kind of concerning.”

Yet ANOTHER DEI university president.

Well one thing is certain:  it’s the most prestigious thing inside that school, or any school.

I’m a bit biased, but I’ve become convinced that most college now is useless.  Only serious sciences have real usage, and some of the more general, traditional social studies (sciences?  lol), but not Oppressed Blacks Studies, and Put-Upon Women’s Studies, and not Art (which including my art-teacher cousin, is tried to be forced into the STEM nonsense as it is, as STEAM as if art people really ever have anything to do with serious science and math).

STEM is just about the only way to go if the student wants to make enough money to pay back the huge student loans these days.  Those trash Majors will never pay off!  Juris Doctorates are an exception, and Trade Schools.

14 Colleges Fail in StopAntisemitism's 2025 Annual Report: Majority of Jewish Students Feel Unwelcome on Certain Campuses

Campus hostility forces Jewish students to hide identities, according to the StopAtisemitism 2025 annual report.

Catherine Armecin Martin  |  Updated 09 December 2025, 12:25 AM GMT

A damning new report has found that thousands of Jewish students in the United States experience hostility on campus, with a significant number feeling compelled to hide their religious identity to avoid harassment. The annual report, released by the non-profit organisation StopAntisemitism, gave 14 universities a failing grade.

The schools, which include elite institutions such as Harvard, Yale, and Columbia, were cited for failing to establish or enforce disciplinary actions against antisemitic behaviour. The report paints a grim picture of American higher education, suggesting a systemic failure to protect Jewish students.

14 Universities with 'F' Grade
StopAntisemitism surveyed 90 schools across the country, with its findings representing a formal verdict on the inadequacy of administrative responses to escalating anti-Jewish activity. Fourteen colleges received an 'F' grade for failing to take action against students and staff who engage in antisemitic remarks or behaviour.

The universities that received the 'F' grade include Columbia University, The New School, Harvard, Yale, Brown, University of Pennsylvania, MIT, Northwestern, UC Berkeley, the University of California, Davis (UC Davis), University of Oregon, University of Washington, Pomona College, and Portland State University.  .  .  .

Report: Brown University Attacker Used 9mm Handgun

AWR Hawkins 14 Dec 2025

The attacker who opened fire in a Brown University engineering building Saturday used a 9mm handgun, according to a live FOX News report.

WBAL-TV noted that police chief Perez is saying the “person of interest” in custody is in his 20s. Heretofore police thought the individual was in his 30s.

FOX News also noted that the gunman allegedly fired around 40 rounds during the attack.

The gunfire erupted during final exams.

Breitbart News noted that 11 people were shot in the attack, two of them fatally, and that a “person of interest” was apprehended in connection with the incident early Sunday morning.

PBS pointed out that Providence Mayor Brett Smiley indicated “investigators were not immediately sure how the shooter got inside the first-floor classroom,” where the attack occurred.

The exterior doors of the building would have been unlocked “but rooms being used for final exams required badge access.”

Brown University President Christina Paxson made clear that ten of the 11 individuals who were shot were students.

It’s the kind of nightmare you hope never touches an Ivy League campus, but here we are—two dead, eight injured, and a cloud of suspicion hanging over Brown University after a gunman opened fire Saturday afternoon. The attack hit the Barus & Holley engineering building around 4:05 p.m., a seven-story maze where students were prepping for finals. The shooter, described only as a male in black, fled down Hope Street, leaving chaos in his wake. Police say they’ve detained a suspect, but the delay in nabbing him has folks scratching their heads.

The police are trying to cover it up because they are woke idiots in Rhode Island.

Brown University Shooting: Shooter Fired 40 Rounds In Classroom (Live Updates)

Zachary Folk,  |  Dec 14, 2025  |  02:33pm EST

Key Facts

  • At a Sunday morning press conference, Providence Mayor Brett Smiley announced a person of interest was in custody and the shelter in place order was lifted.

  • Providence Police Chief Col. Oscar Perez said he could only provide “limited” information about the person of interest so far, who he said was detained “earlier this morning.”

  • Earlier, a deputy police chief described the person of interest as a male, possibly in his 30s, and possibly wearing a mask, Reuters reported, but at a later press conference Perez said he was “actually a person in his 20s.”

  • Perez would not say where the person of interest was detained, or whether they were affiliated with Brown.

  • Two handguns have since been recovered, as well as two loaded 30-round magazines, a law enforcement official told the Associated Press, who also said the shooter fired off 40 rounds from a 9mm handgun in the classroom.

  • Smiley also said that seven of the nine victims were now in stable condition, while another was in “critical but stable” condition and another already discharged.

  • Brown cancelled all classes, final exams, papers and projects for the rest of the semester, Provost Francis J. Doyle III announced in a message on Sunday morning.

  • Officials did not provide an update on the ongoing investigation at another press conference at noon on Sunday, but Perez said “the investigation continues to progress extremely fast.”

  • In an update on social media, FBI Director Kash Patel said the agency used geolocation tools, along with a lead from Providence police, that led to the detaining of the man at a hotel in Coventry, R.I.  .  .  .

20-hours later, another presser where the DEI Providence Police are spewing word salads and still cannot articulate the camera review of the Brown University campus. An epic failure of law enforcement leadership.

🚨I’ve been in law enforcement for over two decades investigating violent crime and no one loves and defends cops more than I do but the investigation taking place at Brown University by the Providence Police is an utter disgrace.

Providence names Oscar Perez new police chief

Ian Donnis  |  February 10, 2023

Oscar Perez, a native of Colombia whose law enforcement career bridges two sharply different eras in Rhode Island’s largest law enforcement agency, was named Friday as the new chief of the Providence Police Department.

Providence Mayor Brett Smiley made the selection in his capacity as the city’s acting public safety commissioner two days after Perez and two other finalists participated in a public forum.

While Smiley praised the other finalists, Providence Police Majs. David Lapatin and Kevin Lanni, he said his choice of Perez was largely based on their rapport.

“What I heard from other mayors around the country time and time again, was that trust and personal rapport and that one-on-one relationship is invaluable,” Smiley said during a City Hall news conference, “and that weighed heavily on me.”

Perez, 52, whose family emigrated to Rhode Island from Colombia when he was 13, said he was proud, humbled and honored by his selection as chief.

“I know it is an amazing privilege to lead the men and women of this excellent police department,” Perez said. “The city of Providence has seen me age and develop into who I am. This great city has provided me with the opportunities of a lifetime, and without a doubt has made a dream come true.”

Perez was elevated in November by former mayor Jorge Elorza to the rank of deputy chief, overseeing daily operations and administration. He has also served as a district commander for South Providence and developed a community relations bureau for the department.

Perez is the first person of color to be named chief of the Providence Police Department.

“The fact that you have someone like myself standing here, what do we tell our community members?” he asked. “It’s definitely a historic moment, it’s a proud moment. It’s a way to tell my community and to the young kids out there that says, ‘You can be here as well.’” .  .  .

"Rapport" is a fancy term for 'groupthink'.

You have to wonder if the stars aligned a little too perfectly when CNN journalists, crashing at a hotel near Providence’s airport, got ringside seats to a major break in the Brown University shooting. Early Sunday morning, around 4 a.m., they were jolted awake by pounding doors and shouts of “Open up!”—turns out, it was a full-on raid by 20+ police, U.S. Marshals, and FBI agents detaining a person of interest in Saturday’s massacre that left two students dead and nine injured. A CNN photojournalist was among the guests, witnessing the chaos firsthand, as confirmed by a Rhode Island law enforcement official. But with no name, face, or motive yet, questions are flying: coincidence, or something more orchestrated?

Nothing  makes sense. What's the deal here?
