Third Bridgeport campaign worker pleads guilty to absentee ballot fraud
Story by Ethan Fry • 13h

BRIDGEPORT — A third defendant among more than a dozen accused of absentee ballot fraud in the last two mayoral primaries pleaded guilty Thursday.

And like the first two to enter guilty pleas, Silvia Ramos, a relatively minor player in the scandal, will not receive any jail time if she complies with all of the conditions of her release on a promise to appear in court. She is scheduled to return to court for sentencing Feb. 11.

Ramos appeared with her attorney, Joshua Pedreira, at the Bridgeport Judicial District Courthouse before Judge Shari A. Murphy, where she pleaded guilty to charges of misrepresenting eligibility requirements for voting by absentee ballot, restricted possession of an absentee ballot, and fraudulent voting.

The plea agreement calls for a suspended two-year prison sentence and two years of probation.

By means of shrewd lies, unremittingly repeated, it is possible to make people believe that heaven is hell - and hell heaven. The greater the lie, the more readily it will be believed.

The receptivity of the masses is very limited, their intelligence is small, but their power of forgetting is enormous. In consequence of these facts, all effective propaganda must be limited to a very few points and must harp on these in slogans until the last member of the public understands what you want him to understand by your slogan.
