San Francisco is so rough that residents have been forced to spend $800K on private security patrols
Story by Eliot Force • 15h
Residents of a San Francisco area bearing the brunt by the city's homelessness crisis have spent more than $800,000 on private security.
Locals from the city's South of Market (SoMa) neighborhood say that homelessness services have been concentrated there, causing poor conditions on their streets.
As a result, the nonprofit SOMA West Community Benefit District, which is funded by local property owners, has been forced to hire private security guards to patrol 109 blocks of the neighborhood day and night.
The nonprofit's main goal is to pick up litter and keep streets clean, but residents felt like they had no choice but to hire security.
Alex Ludlum, the executive director of SOMA West, told ABC7 News: 'We have spent $820,000 in the last 12 months.

By means of shrewd lies, unremittingly repeated, it is possible to make people believe that heaven is hell - and hell heaven. The greater the lie, the more readily it will be believed.
Adolf Hitler (and democrats)
The receptivity of the masses is very limited, their intelligence is small, but their power of forgetting is enormous. In consequence of these facts, all effective propaganda must be limited to a very few points and must harp on these in slogans until the last member of the public understands what you want him to understand by your slogan.
