Trump to force all foreign tourists to provide FIVE YEARS of social media history before entering the US

Foreign tourists are set to be forced to hand over the past five years of their social media history in order to enter the United States.

The drastic move was the latest attempt by Donald Trump to scrutinize those entering the country, after an immigration freeze from 19 countries was announced last week.

The 'mandatory' notice was published by Customs and Border Protection on Tuesday in the Federal Register. 

Social media data would be required for anyone entering the United States, including those from countries such as the United Kingdom and Germany, which are on the visa waiver program.

It follows a June announcement by the State Department that ordered tourists to make their social media profiles public.   

People entering the US will also be asked to provide email addresses, phone numbers and information on their family members in order to achieve safe passage.

The notice stated that the American public will have 60 days to provide comments.

With the World Cup and Olympics headed to the United States in 2026 and 2028, respectively, there will be hundreds of thousands of foreign travelers entering the country.

This is weird. 5 years? You have got to be joking.
But it does bring up the question: Is TBR considered to be 'social media' under this definition?
I think of it as a private bulletin board type site. But I do not know what the new definition is.

Not so weird, its a way to track what they talk about and who they talk to.  Much easier to vet someone who you can track some information on then just asking a couple of questions from a Pedro or Wang that's going to lie through their teeth. If they've deleted all communication, then you know that they're hiding something.

As for your question about TBR -- well, I don't know and if it is considered 'social media' and will now be monitored by the gov't ... then it's time to keep that in mind.

Lol, start now with building an alter ego on some democrat cesspool and post a few posts a year saying ... Yeah, what they just said. Then you have a record for either side who is in power. Unfortunately my DemocraticUnderground mole profile was uprooted and deleted either due to inactivity or tracing of IP address.

I used to use the DU profile to see what they were saying in threads that were not public... but it bored me over time because all they seemed to do was curse a lot and use the same race/class card replies. Honestly some of the most shallow people on the internet.

How is it that Trump only sees the merchandise trade deficit and not the balance of payments?  Of course, let's keep foreigners from spending their money here by making it odious to get a tourist visa.  It's not even clear to me how one could provide a social media history, and the same will be true of lots of potential visitors, who will thus say "F**k it" I'll visit Canada instead."
