By means of shrewd lies, unremittingly repeated, it is possible to make people believe that heaven is hell - and hell heaven. The greater the lie, the more readily it will be believed.

The receptivity of the masses is very limited, their intelligence is small, but their power of forgetting is enormous. In consequence of these facts, all effective propaganda must be limited to a very few points and must harp on these in slogans until the last member of the public understands what you want him to understand by your slogan.

It could be the best thing that ever happened for republicans in those states. :yowsa:

Which states are those?
Washington, Oregon, California, New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
"If all men are created equal, that is final. If they are endowed with inalienable rights, that is final. If governments derive their just powers from the consent of the governed, that is final. No advance, no progress can be made beyond these propositions. If anyone wishes to deny their truth or their soundness, the only direction in which he can proceed historically is not forward, but backward toward the time when there was no equality, no rights of the individual, no rule of the people."    -Calvin Coolidge

Good. Fine with me.

Now, do airplanes, trucks, ships, and trains (most of which are diesel powered).

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Don't worry.  They will happily fine you, tax you, surtax you, fee you, and put a surtax on the fee.

Well I hope other states can import these used cars to keep the used market cheap. Cali has one of the largest old vintage car collections in the world.... I imagine they will just garage them or sell out of state. Not sure what the Hispanic population will think of having their "low-riders" ripped out from under them.

I thought black folks would have freaked out when California banned menthol cigarettes, but it's been a year or so and not a peep.

The fact is none of these states will meet that goal.  NONE!  Why?  Because it is not doable.  The electric is not there for everyone to have an EV vehicle.  And I had to look up what ZEV meant.  First hearing that acronym.

How does a Hybrid qualify as a Zero Emission Vehicle ZEV when it has an internal combustion engine?

Last but not least, I am just guessing half of all people cannot afford a new car, so they buy used.  Where are the EV and ZEV vehicles coming from for that market when dealers ship EVs and ZEVs overseas when they are returned from being leased.  Where?  You look at used car lots, you might see 1-2 EVs on the lot, because the rest are shipped overseas when returned from being leased.

There is a huge hole being created for folks wanting a used car in a market selling only EVs.  I could be wrong, but most EVs are leased because of their exorbitant purchase price.  The rich can afford them, no sweat.  But the couple with a household income that is the average household income cannot afford an EV.

Think about it.  The average person with a used car keeps it until it is 9-15 years of age.  The batteries go kaput in EVs at roughly 7 years.  Who can afford to buy a used 3-5 year old EV and be faced with a $7,000 to $25,000 battery replacement?  Who?  No one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The lunacy of the Democommie Party has driven the cost of everything up by double across the board, or more, healthcare, AUTOS(which have doubled during the Wrecking Ball Joe years), food, everything.

And these enemies of the USA, yes, I consider the Dems enemies, have empty rhetoric against President Trump because prices haven't fallen as fast as they went up under the phony POTUS, Wrecking Ball Joe.

When Reagan was POTUS, it took every bit of two years before the economy began turning from the Titanic path of idiot Jimmy Carter.  Believe me, this time next year, people will know what President Trump is doing is in our best interest.  The Dems are utterly clueless, and what would one expect when their leaders are Sen Schumer and Rep Hakeem Jeffries.  Just doesn't get much worse than that.

Not only that, but the used car lot will disappear. No stock, nothing to sell, no business.

If you recall, the prices still did not drop. Commodities (gas, food) did, but that is largely supply and demand. Base level cars (Chevy Vega) went from just a hair over $2,000 to $3,200, for instance. It did not go down.

Funny thing about pumping money into the economy, add a few trillion, and what was there is worth less. Today my pre-Biden day-rate has only about 80% of what it had in buying power then.

That isn't that prices went up (although the numbers got larger) it's that the money is worth about 20% less.

With that many more dollars out there, prices aren't going to come down to pre-Biden levels except in commodity sectors where the supply has grown or regulations have been relaxed.

I guess you don’t recall Obama’s cash for clunkers scheme, where we taxpayers subsidized the purchase of new cars for people turning in their older cars.every single car turned in was destroyed, engines bricked and cars shredded, removing many good used cars from the market and driving up prices, while also removing many good used parts from the market. I seriously doubt the eco fascists in those states would allow any ICE vehicles to survive if they had anything to say about it.

That is Nevada.  Not available in California.
Oh. Just as well. From what I see on the labels, everything in California causes cancer. I could never live there, I'd die in a week.

I thought black folks would have freaked out when California banned menthol cigarettes, but it's been a year or so and not a peep.
Prohibition showed that laws are not all that effective in habits like this.

Californians Are Still Smoking Menthols After Flavored Cigarette BanCalifornia banned the sale of flavored tobacco in late 2022 in an attempt to combat the rising use of tobacco products and e-cigarettes, especially among young people.

While cigarette sales have declined, this hasn't stopped some people from smoking menthol cigarettes. From May to June 2023, market research firm WSPM Group conducted a discarded cigarette pack audit that gathered data from ten major California cities. It was found that 14.1% of the packs were menthol, and another 7% were menthol workarounds that mimicked the process of adding menthol flavorings to the packaging, bringing the total of menthol-style cigarettes to 21.1%. Foreign and illicit sales increased, with 27.6% of the sample originating outside of the United States and 41.2% having the proper California tax stamp. While progress has been made to discourage people from continuing their smoking habits, there's still room for improvement to make the ban more effective. https://www.smobserved.com/story/2024/12/16/lifestyle/californians-are-still-smoking-menthols-after-flavored-cigarette-ban/8595.html

Smuggling is big business in Arizona and Nevada.  There was a voters initiative to ban menthol smokes in NV but it failed.
