Texas Scorecard By Addie Hovland December 5, 2025

Texas has become the fifth state to make ivermectin available over the counter.

Texans may now access ivermectin from their local pharmacies without a doctor’s prescription after a law passed earlier this year by the legislature took effect on December 4.

“Ivermectin is officially available without a prescription in Texas, and pharmacists are fully allowed to dispense!” Houston’s Dr. Mary Talley Bowden celebrated on X.

The new law, passed as House Bill 25, also protects pharmacists from criminal, civil, or professional disciplinary liability for responsibly dispensing ivermectin.

Although the law states that pharmacists “may” dispense ivermectin without a prescription, it does not state that they “shall” do so. Some pharmacies may choose not to.

The law also authorized the Texas State Board of Pharmacy to set rules for dispensing ivermectin.

Interesting. I hope my conservative state legislature follows suit.

????

Used Ivermectin for Heart Worm pup preventive measures even back into the mid 1990's.  Used to get it at Tractor Supply among others.

Wonder what the difference is?

I display the Confederate Battle Flag in honor of my great great great grandfathers who spilled blood at Wilson's Creek and Shiloh.  5 others served in the WBTS with honor too.

The grade quality.  Ivermectin for humans has purity requirements that are above those for animals.

Having said that, I took horse-grade ivermectin (along with zinc and quercetin) when I got Covid, and that combo knocked it out in 24-hrs.  Unfortunately, my fascist federal government at the time blocked me from getting the human version even with a prescription.
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.     -Dwight Eisenhower-

"The [U.S.] Constitution is a limitation on the government, not on private individuals ... it does not prescribe the conduct of private individuals, only the conduct of the government ... it is not a charter for government power, but a charter of the citizen's protection against the government."     -Ayn Rand-

  • I was a "conspiracy theorist". Now I'm just right.

I took the horse-grade Ivermectin, too. It did not taste like apple, but I'd done the math and the dose for a horse is 0.2mg/kg of body weight, just like the dose for humans that was listed on the Mayo Clinic's website. I had zinc and Doxycycline to go with it, and was well in a week, but had let my COVID progress for a couple of days before I went to the walk-in clinic (where I got the prescription for Doxycycline).
How God must weep at humans' folly! Stand fast! God knows what he is doing!

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.
