Socialist Mayor-elect Katie Wilson has promised to 'Trump-Proof' Seattle sending a new wave of change through Washington's biggest city.
Wilson, 43, narrowly pulled out the win on Election Night earlier this month, garnering 50.2 percent of the votes and only pulling ahead of incumbent Mayor Bruce Harrell by 2,004 votes, according to the King County Board of Elections.
And much like New York City, which elected Zohran Mamdani, this West Coast Democratic city is taking a chance on a socialist mayor.
Wilson has promised to 'Trump-Proof' the city of 781,000, put a focus on increasing affordable housing, increasing public safety, and addressing the city's 16,000-strong homeless population.
She has promised her constituents that she will come into office with a progressive, socialist agenda, which promises new taxes on the rich and publicly-backed grocery stores - policies Mamdani, 34, has also said he would enact. The two mayor-elects are often compared to each other.
