Dems Urge Troops to Disobey "Illegal" Orders
This week, a six-pack of Democrat members of Congress urged federal military and intelligence officers to disobey "illegal orders." The six included Sen. Elissa Slotkin (Mich), Sen. Mark Kelly (Az), Rep. Chris DeLuzio (Penn), Rep. Maggie Goodlander (NH), Rep. Chrissy Houlihan (Penn), Rep. Jason Crow (Colo). All touted their own prior service in these federal agencies.
Their joint statement asserted "this administration is pitting our uniformed military and intelligence community professionals against American citizens. Like us, you all swore an oath to protect and defend the Constitution. Right now, the threats to our Constitution aren't just coming from abroad, but from right here at home. Our laws are clear. Whether you're serving in the CIA, the Army, Navy, or Air Force, you must refuse illegal orders."
Notably, the statement neglected to specify which orders they were referring to. Retired Navy Captain Mark Kelly defended this ambiguity, saying "you never let your enemy know what your strategy is or how you intend to implement it. By planting this seed of doubt in the minds of the people serving as this country's national defense and letting them know that the Democrats in Congress have their backs we optimize our chances of thwarting the evil intentions of the Trump Administration."
White House deputy chief of staff for policy Stephen Miller said "if these Democrats had any integrity they would identify which orders they believe to be illegal and make their case to the American people. Instead, they are trying to bait military personnel into causing an incident that can only undermine our national defense. High-ranking members of the legislative branch urging such disobedience seems far worse to me than the January 6, 2021 trespassing into the Capitol building that Democrats called an insurrection."
Sen. Slotkin said "President Trump's assertion that what we did is seditious and potentially punishable by death is doubly wrong. First, only military members can be put to death for committing sedition. Second, since we carefully worded our call for troops to only disobey illegal orders we cannot be found guilty of sedition."
Epstein Scandal Backfires on Democrats
After months of scurrilous accusations and gloating over how the Epstein case would bring about his end, President Trump agreed to sign the Congressional resolution authorizing the release of all the Epstein files in the government's possession. The results were not those Democrats had hoped for.
Virginia Giuffre, one of Jeffrey Epstein's under-aged, sexually exploited victims, turned out to be a big fan of Donald Trump. In her book "Nobody's Girl" Giuffre had only positive things to say about him. She said Trump was not involved in Epstein's sex-trafficking network, was kind to her, never treated her inappropriately, and would consider him a hero for releasing the Epstein files.
Emails in the Epstein files show that in 2013, five years after Epstein was convicted for soliciting a minor for prostitution in Florida, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) asked Epstein for a donation to help Democrats win a majority in the House. Jeffries now says "I don't remember doing that."
Emails in the Epstein files show that non-voting House member Stacey Plaskett (D-Virgin Islands), a person who in 2023 said "Trump needs to be shot," was on the phone with Epstein during a 2019 House Judiciary Committee hearing getting his suggestions for how to damage Trump. Jaimie Raskin (D-NY), the top Democrat on that Committee, defended this, saying "she was just getting input from her constituent."
Epstein's email files also showed that Larry Summers, former Harvard President and US Treasury Secretary during the Clinton Administration, solicited sexual advice from Epstein and flew on the "Lolita Express" (Epstein's private jet) to a Caribbean honeymoon that included a stopover on Epstein's private island. A spokesperson for Summers pointed out that "this was before Epstein was convicted of any sex crimes." Summers has since resigned from the Board of OpenAI and is "stepping back from public commitments."
Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Tex) tried to divert attention from Democrats by pointing out that EPA head Lee Zeldin had previously received campaign donations from a Jeffrey Epstein. As it turns outs, this was a different Jeffrey Epstein, a doctor who lives in Zeldin's former congressional district in New York. Crockett went on CNN to explain that "Zeldin has admitted that he did receive donations from a person whose name is Jeffrey Epstein. This proves I wasn't trying to mislead anyone."
Meanwhile, in a recent episode of ABC's "The View," co-host Joy Behar asserted "isn't it obvious he was — that Trump was involved with Epstein?! I mean..." at which point co-host Sunny Hostin interjected "He's mentioned over a thousand times." "Yeah, there are more pictures of Trump with Epstein than pictures of Kim Kardashian of herself! How many more things do we have to see before people believe that he was involved with Epstein?!"
Sensing that these remarks could become grounds for another multi-million dollar defamation judgment against the network, co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin reminded her co-hosts that "there's no evidence of wrongdoing by Trump. Sure we see pictures of Trump and Epstein at the same parties or other events. Obviously, they know each other. But there was a point 20 some years ago when Trump banned Epstein from Mar-a-Lago for hitting on the 14-year-old daughter of another guest and later cooperated with the investigation that led to Epstein's conviction for trafficking minors for sex. ABC's already been successfully sued by Trump for false statements made by George Stephanopoulos that defamed Trump. Let's not make that same mistake."
Dem Brushes Off Hateful Words
State Rep. Aftyn Behn (D-Nashville) says "the recent discovery of a podcast from 2020 where I said 'I hate the city, I hate the bachelorettes, I hate the pedal taverns, I hate country music, I hate all of the things that make Nashville. I hate it.' Won't stop me from winning this election."
"This election" is a special election to fill the congressional seat vacated by former Rep. Mark Green (R) earlier this year. Her opponent for the seat Matt Van Epps suggested that "this district cannot be well-represented by a person who hates everything about it."
Behn disagreed, saying "hatred is the first step toward improvement. I recognize what's wrong with this city, this state, and this country. My opponent does not. The recent election sweep by Democrats in California, New Jersey, and Virginia show that voters are turning to Democrats across the nation to fix the problems caused by Republican rule. The majority of voters want more government subsidies for medical care. They want an end to Trump's persecution of undocumented immigrants. They want higher taxes on the rich. They'll never get these things from Republicans. All we need to do is get our message out."
"We've already knocked on 40,000 doors and will knock on millions more before election day," she vowed. "This is the same type of 'ground game' strategy that allowed democratic socialist Zohran Mamdani to win a mandate in New York City. We've also got endorsements from former Vice-President Kamala Harris and Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Tex). All my opponent has is Trump and his 'make America great again' scheme of lower taxes, fewer regulations, and more jobs. Voters know that a job is a hard way to make a living and that getting more free stuff is a lot easier. This is why Democrats will take back the majority in Congress next year and the presidency in 2028."
Democrat Congresswoman Indicted
Rep. Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick (D-Fla) has been indicted for stealing $5 million in Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) funds, laundering the proceeds, spending part of the money purchasing luxury items for her own personal use, giving part of the money to friends and relatives who then illegally donated to her campaign for Congress, and for tax evasion. Her brother Edwin Cherfilus, Nadege Leblanc, and David K. Spencer were also indicted as accomplices in one or more of the criminal acts. Additional details may be found on the website of the District Court for the Southern District of Florida at
www.flsd.uscourts.gov.
In 2021, the Florida Division of Emergency Management (FDEM), using FEMA funds, contracted with Trinity Healthcare Services--a company jointly owned by the Congresswoman and her brother--to register people for COVID-19 vaccinations. Instead of paying Trinity the $50,000 specified in the contract, FDEM erroneously paid $5 million. In 2024 FDEM asked for the over payment to be returned. Trinity refused, saying that FDEM's three-year delay in asking was too late because the money had already been spent. FDEM sued and reached a settlement in which the original over payment plus interest--an amount totaling $5.6 million--would be paid in installments over a several year period.
The Congresswoman cited this settlement and contended "this criminal indictment is an unjust, baseless, sham indictment. I am innocent. The timing alone is curious and clearly meant to distract from far more pressing national issues. The over payment was FDEM's fault, not mine. After three years I assumed that the 'finders keepers, losers weepers' rule would apply. It's bad enough that I have to repay the money, but to now be facing criminal charges constitutes an unconstitutional double jeopardy."
US Attorney General Pamela Bondi said "agreeing to repay the money doesn't negate the fact that some of the uses to which the FEMA funds were diverted would've been clearly illegal even if Representative Cherfilus-McCormick had used her rightfully owned money. It is illegal to use straw donors to make campaign contributions. It is also illegal to file false tax returns. The fact that elaborate steps were taken to try to conceal the origin of the funds she was spending is also evidence that she knew what she was doing was wrong."
Interestingly, the seat to which Rep Cherfilus-McCormick was elected in 2022 was formerly held by the late Alcee Hastings. Hastings held the seat from 1992 to his death in 2021. He previously had been impeached and removed as a federal judge in 1989. In 1983 he was put on trial for soliciting a $150,000 bribe in return for reducing the sentences of two mob-connected felons convicted in his court. He was acquitted, but a later investigation concluded that he committed perjury, tampered with evidence, and conspired to gain financially by accepting bribes. Despite his unsavory record, he was repeatedly reelected to Congress by this Florida district's voters for nearly 30 years. If she can avoid being sent to prison, Rep Cherfilus-McCormick has a good chance to replicate his achievement.
Therapist: 75% of My Patients Have TDS
Jonathan Alpert, a licensed psychotherapist in New York City says "75% of my patients have Trump Derangement Syndrome. They are obsessed with Trump. They're hyperfixated on Trump. They say they can't sleep. They feel traumatized by Mr. Trump. They feel restless."
"Our country has strayed so far away from where we once were," Alpert lamented. "If you look at the '80s when President Reagan was shot, people were united. He famously said, 'I hope you're all Republicans' to the surgeons. The response was, 'Today, Mr. President, we're all Republicans.' But our country has lost that."
Emma Nutz, a former patient of Dr. Alpert's, said "I stopped seeing him because he doesn't understand how dangerous Trump is. Every time I turn on the TV someone is calling him Hitler. Hitler started World War II and killed 50 million people. That was before there were nuclear weapons. Trump has nuclear weapons. With the push of a button he could kill 50 billion people. How can any sane person not be traumatized by Trump? Where are the suicide bombers when we need them? Why can't a CIA sniper take him out? These are the questions that keep me from sleeping."
