John Fetterman to be primaried

Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman is expected to face a primary challenge in 2028, as discontent grows among some Democrats over his increasingly outspoken breaks with the party.

In a post on X, the Pennsylvania Working Families Party said it intends to mount a primary challenge against Fetterman in 2028, vowing to recruit a candidate who can take on the Democrat.


“We’re primarying John Fetterman. Last week, Fetterman once again sold out working Pennsylvanians. He was the deciding vote for a Republican budget bill that will strip healthcare from over 400,000 Pennsylvanians. We deserve real working class leadership in the U.S. Senate,” the post read. The party has not yet fielded a candidate.

Not sure who they're planning to get to do the deed, but the Rats don't really have any prominent players on the bench aside from Shapiro.

Well, damn. Fetterman is making too much sense lately to be associated with the Woke/Communist/hate Trump more than they love Americans Democrats of today.

It's a pity, because, as odd as it may sound, he is on a path that could turn the Democrat Party from the Anti-American abyss they've been charging headlong toward for a decade or more. Closer to HHH than AOC, for sure.

I don't believe the Pennsylvania Working Families Party ever has been the least bit significant in Pa. elections. (This is the first I've heard of the party, actually, but I'm not always 100% tuned into Pa. politics).
This likely is just a new Soros initiative to get rid of any Democrat who tries to be reasonable and bipartisan.

PA is a closed primary state,  so no PUBS can't vote in the primary.

I am wondering if Fetterman may decide to switch to GOP?

Right. He is a more sensible Democrat, which in today's Party looks conservative compared to the rest of the field. In a nutshell, he is relatively sane for a Democrat.

I'm going out on limb and predict that even if primaried, Mr. Fetterman will prevail, and then go on to be re-elected (regardless of who the Pubbie candidate is)...

I don't want Fetterman to switch parties. He's far mor effective being a bee up the Dems rear end. I'll be interested to see if he can hold off a primary challenger. I'm sure the Dems will fry him in ads. And that's really too bad.

Thank You, you are correct, I often cringe when I see conservatives take crazy under their wing and try to tame it. Fetterman is a through and through liberal with occasional bouts of sanity.

Fetterman is about as centrist as they come in Washington: too liberal for the GOP (especially in the Trump era) but not left-wing enough for the Democrats.
