By means of shrewd lies, unremittingly repeated, it is possible to make people believe that heaven is hell - and hell heaven. The greater the lie, the more readily it will be believed.

The receptivity of the masses is very limited, their intelligence is small, but their power of forgetting is enormous. In consequence of these facts, all effective propaganda must be limited to a very few points and must harp on these in slogans until the last member of the public understands what you want him to understand by your slogan.

This could easily be solved (no pun intended) by enrolling more DEI students.

I think this study reflects decades dumbing down and diversion from core subjects such as Math in PSs more than DEI. Sadly, students who can actually read and do math have become a sort of de facto elite.

As CA colleges and universities go, UCSD is not among the top-ranked, e.g. UCLA or UC Berserkeley, in the UC system. Who here, without using a search engine, knows their mascot? At the same time, UC schools are more demanding and respected than community colleges and many CSUs. IOW, UCSD should be getting academically better students, but those they are getting are deficient academically.

How are they passing the SAT test???
Live in  harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly, do not claim to be wiser than you are.  Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all.  If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all.

This is why Massachusetts insitituted the MCAS requirement for high school graduation during the 1990s - high schools were graduating functional illiterates.

Massachusetts voters recently recinded in the MCAS graduation requirement so the teachers' unions could being to graduate functional illiterates from public schools once again.  Back to the failed 'social promotions' of the 1970s.  But, hey, at least teachers can go back to day drinking at school.

I just heard about this book*. Here's part of the Amazon blurb:
Quote
... Schools, once alive with deep learning born of human connection, are now dominated by screens. The result is unmistakable: falling performance, fractured attention, and the slow erosion of rigorous thought.

We were told that classroom technology was progress. It wasn’t. In THE DIGITAL DELUSION, neuroscientist and educator Dr. Jared Cooney Horvath reveals why digital tools in school consistently undermine learning -- and what parents, teachers, and schools can do to push back with purpose. Drawing on decades of neuroscience and education research, Horvath dismantles the core myths driving the EdTech movement, and offers a practical playbook for putting people -- not programs -- back at the center of education.

This is not a call to reject technology.

It’s a call to reclaim real learning. ...
That children seem not to use pencil and paper very much anymore may contribute to their low scores.

All by design.  The intellectuals must go.
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.     -Dwight Eisenhower-

"The [U.S.] Constitution is a limitation on the government, not on private individuals ... it does not prescribe the conduct of private individuals, only the conduct of the government ... it is not a charter for government power, but a charter of the citizen's protection against the government."     -Ayn Rand-

Jesse Watters has a segment where his flunky Johnny asks questions of young people at various locations.

The answers he gets from our young is jaw dropping and scary.  I really hope our young isn't that ignorant.
I display the Confederate Battle Flag in honor of my great great great grandfathers who spilled blood at Wilson's Creek and Shiloh.  5 others served in the WBTS with honor too.
