Rollins: ‘Next Step’ Is to Make ‘Everyone Reapply’ for SNAP to Ensure Integrity

Ian Hanchett 14 Nov 2025

On Thursday’s broadcast of Newsmax TV’s “Rob Schmitt Tonight,” Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins discussed data on food stamps and said that data from blue states is “going to give us a platform and a trajectory to fundamentally rebuild this program, have everyone reapply for their benefit, make sure that everyone that’s taking a taxpayer-funded benefit through SNAP or food stamps, that they literally are vulnerable and they can’t survive without it.”

Rollins stated, “29 states, mostly the red states, responded with their data sets, February, March, April. … But here’s the most unbelievable news I have really, just over the last few days: That 5,000 dead people, that was just one month, the number is closer to 186,000 deceased men and women and children in this country are receiving a check. Now, that is what we’re really going to start clamping down on. Half a million are getting two. But here’s the really stunning thing: This is just data from those 29 mostly red states. Can you imagine when we get our hands on the blue state data, what we’re going to find?”

She continued, “It’s going to give us a platform and a trajectory to fundamentally rebuild this program, have everyone reapply for their benefit, make sure that everyone that’s taking a taxpayer-funded benefit through SNAP or food stamps, that they literally are vulnerable and they can’t survive without it. And that’s the next step here.”

I love it!

They must be getting help from the DOGE people on how to cross check information.

Let's help those that truly need it and throw the bums out.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

It is logical.  That being said  libtards will fight it tooth and fudge rounds
You don’t become cooler with age but you do care progressively less about being cool, which is the only true way to actually be cool.

If you have to reapply for a Medical Marijuana card annually, so should those who want to qualify for SNAP.

 :amen:

One additional thought, maybe when people reapply job training should be offered. We need to get back to a culture that values self sufficiency.

But how will Grandma feed h erself, she has only been dead for 20 years.

My wife has to re-apply for Social Security Disability every so often.  I'm too cheap to take her to Lourdes to miraculously walk out of her wheelchair.

If a wheelchair-bound, paraplegic, native-born, American Citizen born with Spina Bifida has to re-apply to prove she still can't walk, SNAP recipients can reapply for benefits.

It's a mistake to let states administer Federal assistance program funds.  States governments cannot be trusted to adhere to Federal Law.

Massachusetts had been providing illegal immigrants with false Social Security numbers to get benefits and drivers' licenses when Mike Dukakis was Governor.

Do y'all know what a clusterf*ck that would be?

I already can't get any of them agencies on the phone (sosec, medicare/medicaid, all of em)... And Lord help you if you have to go down there to straighten something out... It takes days and days. Hell, it takes days and days to get them on the dang phone, any of them.

Bury em with everybody all at once and all you'll do is choke em off. The entire system will be paralyzed. They can't handle that kind of flow. They can't handle their day to day.

Before y'all go off half-cocked, SURE. Everyone has to pony-up and re-identify. But that has to be across some months to a year. And the system is more the problem than the fund are. The system needs to be fixed WAY more than the food. SAME with sosec. Same with vets.

Prune those systems back, and make them work. For one thing, 24hr phone lines. Offices open 7am-9pm, instead of like most of em, open 10am-3pm... Make the people that work there actually work.

Public Assistance offices are the worst run systems I have ever experienced. And until you have actually experienced it, you have no idea of the suck.

When people lost their jobs due to the pandemic and had to apply for assistance that was a giant cluster.  Some people never got paid, some people got paid twice, etc. All blamed on antiquated computer systems.  It took people weeks to be able to apply because the system kept shutting down once they got to a certain point via computer and trying to get help over the phone was futile because the lines were always busy and they were only accepting online applications. Frustrating is an understatement.

Trying to accomplish something with a gov't entity is about as bad as dealing with Comcast.  Comcast still wins the prize for incompetency, stupidity and trying to manipulate.
Live in  harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly, do not claim to be wiser than you are.  Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all.  If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all.

Agreed, on all points. It will take a staggered approach to the problem, in order to keep from overwhelming the offices.

Our local Soc Sec office was only open on one or two days a week, and then for hardly any hours. In 40 years, I managed to get in once, past armed security, to get duplicate Soc Sec cards for the kids after the fire. They were closed down, and now our 'local' office is only 130 miles away. Getting someone on the phone when I signed up for benefits only took 8 hours (total) on hold, and when I finally got to talk to a human it was on a national number. You had to get through to make an appointment to talk with someone on the phone at the new 'local' office, much less to get an in-person appointment.  **nononono*

It's already a clusterf**k, and this would overwhelm it. Maybe that would be a good thing, because it would emphasize the need to fix it. You know they don't have time to look for fraud, generally, if they can't handle day to day operations. It's a wonder 186,000 dead recipients have been found (likely Soc Sec has far more), because it's likely no one has been actively looking.
