Wow. That's a substantial amount.
Years ago when TSA was just beginning I applied to become an agent. I scored very well. Then came the hearing test and that is when I realized I had a hearing deficit. So they told me to get a hearing aid and reapply. I went through testing through several local doctors; cleaning the ears, etc., and one doc told me I had a piece of bone in one ear and likely a hearing aid would not improve hearing that much in that ear. Then I realized how much hearing aids cost. $6,000.00 back then - so I opted out and I never became a TSA agent.
