Olympics set to ban ALL transgender athletes for LA 2028 - but row rages over whether those with Imane Khelif's reported condition will be able to compete

A ban on transgender women competitors is strongly expected to be in place for the  2028 Olympics – but it remains unclear if there will be barriers against athletes with differences of sexual development (DSD) after the boxing furore at Paris 2024.

Under the existing rules, each sport is empowered to decide if transgender women can compete if their testosterone levels fall below a designated threshold.

But the International Olympic Committee, under new president Kirsty Coventry, is in discussions about a dramatic policy shift that would impose a blanket ban across all sports for the Los Angeles Games.

Such a move would prevent the kind of scenario that saw Laurel Hubbard contest the weightlifting at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021. Hubbard transitioned in 2012.

While Olympic sources have confirmed that such a measure is very much the ‘direction of travel’, it is highly unlikely to come into force before the Winter Olympics in Italy next February.

One report suggested that a rule change could be announced in February, but insiders estimated it might take between six months and a year for it to be approved and cleared.

The move would be seen as a box ticked by Coventry, who campaigned to protect the female category on her way to winning the presidential election earlier this year.

You may find 'nobility' in a savage. But never forget that his first instinct is to kill you.
You cannot "COEXIST" with people who want to kill you.
If they kill their own with no conscience, there is nothing to stop them from killing you.

This makes me happy.

They are not likely to implement the new rules in time for the Winter Olympics next year.  Bureaucracy.
For unvaccinated, we are looking at a winter of severe illness and death — if you’re unvaccinated — for themselves, their families, and the hospitals they’ll soon overwhelm. Sloe Joe Biteme 12/16

The Olympics is finally turning its back on trans nonsense. Now others must do the same
Sport is about bodies, not feelings – advantages like male puberty or differences in sex development have no place in women’s competition

I hope I never again have to see someone who refuses to take a sex eligibility test punch a woman in the face and win a gold medal for it.

I am referring to Imane Khelif’s win at last year’s Paris Olympics, when the Algerian boxer was allowed to compete despite failing to meet the eligibility criteria for the Women’s Boxing World Championship the previous year. Then, Khelif was found to have “competitive advantages over other female competitors”.

A simple cheek swab is all that would have been required to show whether Khelif qualified for the women’s category at the Olympics. Instead, despite the International Boxing Association’s ineligibility ruling, Khelif was accepted into the Olympics as female on the basis of passport ID.

Khelif claims not to be trans. But the news that the International Olympic Committee, after reviewing the evidence, is now very close to imposing a ban on transgender women competing in the female category is welcome.

Athletes with differences of sex development (DSD) – which some have speculated could include Khelif, as reports allege that, at the very least, she had enhanced testosterone levels – will also be affected.

About time, that this risible unfairness stops! We have long known that male puberty confers physical advantages on trans women. Meanwhile, athletes with DSD will simply have to compete in the male category ...

Why do you hate intersex women?

This ruling won’t affect any women with DSDs (‘intersex’ women, in your outdated terminology). It will stop men with DSDs competing in the female category. I don’t hate anyone who has a DSD. I do despise those who allowed men to punch women in the face for entertainment.
