Hacksaw-wielding NYC man chops down city trees to improve his million-dollar view — and others are joining
Story by Katherine Donlevy • 14h

A hacksaw-wielding homeowner last week razed a dozen city-owned trees in Queens to improve his million-dollar view, joining other residents greedily expanding their own vistas, too, activists say.

The locals along a stunning stretch of 130th Street in College Point have become notorious for disrupting the waterfront area around Powell’s Cove Park, destroying public greenery under the guise of weeding out invasive plants and improving the parkland, according to preservationists.

“It’s become a bit of a Wild West back there,” said Kat Cervino, president of the Coastal Preservation Network, who witnessed the latest alleged environmental assault firsthand last week.

Cervino said she was preparing for a volunteer beach clean-up in the area when she spotted the accused elderly scofflaw.

Mamdani will probably approve of people cutting the trees down since it will make it look more like a Middle East desert and home.

Is it the vandal himself or the headline writer who is ignorant of tools?  A hacksaw is hardly the appropriate tool for cutting down trees.
And when they behead your own people in the wars which are to come, then you will know what this was all about.

There is unrest in the forest.  There is trouble with the trees.
For the maples want more sunlight, but the oaks ignore their pleas.
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.     -Dwight Eisenhower-

"The [U.S.] Constitution is a limitation on the government, not on private individuals ... it does not prescribe the conduct of private individuals, only the conduct of the government ... it is not a charter for government power, but a charter of the citizen's protection against the government."     -Ayn Rand-

It would be a bit of a chore, definitely.

Probably the author.  Most NY city denizens couldn’t tell the difference between a wood saw and a nail file.

I get winded trying to hacksaw a small bolt off.  No way I'd tackle a small tree.

But like stated above, the reporter wouldn't know a hoe from a spade.

Glad I am not the only one that noticed that. Though as a High School Shop Teacher I have seen students use tools for things they were never intended for.

Some guy did this on Nantucket.

Millionaires are running rampant chopping down neighbors' trees to improve their views and property values.
