‘Y’all gonna get wiped out’: Laura Ingraham warns GOP senator about keeping filibuster
November 8, 2025 | Chris Donaldson

Fox News host Laura Ingraham warned Sen. Roger Marshall (R-Kansas) that if GOP lawmakers don’t heed the pleas of President Donald J. Trump to invoke the “nuclear option” to overcome Democrat resistance to funding the federal government, the party will pay a severe price in next year’s midterm elections.

The clock is now ticking on Senate Republicans who could end the government shutdown by simply voting to end the filibuster, a procedural tool that is being abused by Democrats to inflict holiday season suffering on America for the sake of raw politics.

Now that Tuesday’s elections are over, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and his obstructionist caucus are even more determined to stand fast and won’t budge until they get exactly what they want, including free healthcare for their most important constituency, illegal aliens.

Going nuclear is risky business, but IMO the elections the other  night reflect that the GOP is being blamed for the shutdown.
Live in  harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly, do not claim to be wiser than you are.  Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all.  If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all.

Only 2 Dem senators stopped the elimination last time they had control - those two are gone now. If the GOP does not have the spine [ I know that's a strange concept for the GOP ] to eliminate it now, the Dems will and with a vengeance.

Keep the filibuster.  It hinders the 'direct democracy' that most here claim to fear.  The rule itself needs to be changed.  Instead of 60 votes, it needs to be 60% of Senators present.

Key phrase from our Founding Fathers  -  'limited' government.  They never intended for the Senate to run roughshod over the American people.
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.     -Dwight Eisenhower-

"The [U.S.] Constitution is a limitation on the government, not on private individuals ... it does not prescribe the conduct of private individuals, only the conduct of the government ... it is not a charter for government power, but a charter of the citizen's protection against the government."     -Ayn Rand-

  • I was a "conspiracy theorist". Now I'm just right.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

The Senate itself already fulfills that function, IMO ("hindering democracy").
