Bodega Leader Resigns After Siding with Mamdani
Story by Roger Anderson•
21h

United Bodegas of America (UBA) co-founder Fernando Mateo has resigned after the group endorsed Democratic socialist Zohran Mamdani for New York City mayor, a move critics claimed has undermined its nonpartisan status. Mamdani went on to win the election. Mateo noted that hundreds of store owners objected. UBA President Radhames Rodriguez endorsed Mamdani for easing regulations and permits but opposed his plan for five city-run grocery stores.

Seventeen Techniques for Truth Suppression

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.
