Realtors' phones ringing off the hook as panicked New Yorkers ditch coveted area codes to flee Mamdani housing chaos

Real estate agents are being bombarded with calls this morning from panicked New Yorkers desperate to flee after Zohran Mamdani’s mayoral victory last night.

The most desirable destinations are said to be the city's affluent suburbs and Republican strongholds across the Sun Belt.

Agents, from Westchester and Greenwich to Florida, Texas and the Carolinas, said they have seen a surge in calls from New Yorkers desperate to relocate.

Some residents are said to be searching within commuting distance, while others are looking to get as far away as possible.

'We are seeing interest from New York City intensify because of the election,' Dina Goldentayer, a Douglas Elliman agent in Florida, told the Daily Mail.

'The city's area codes 917 and 212 are popping up now almost as much as they did at the height of the Covid pandemic.

'Most of the calls are from buyers, many Wall Street execs, looking in the $20 million to $30 million range. Specifically for waterfront houses or oceanfront condos.'

The original Manhattan area code, 212, has long been considered a status symbol among established New Yorkers.

Yup, or renting one out.  Not such good news for tenants with aggressive landlords.  Thankfully, we’ve been tenants in the same property for 12 years and the owner is pretty decent; also, I’ve done a number of projects around the house that have improved the value.

Because in part when his administration defunds the NYPD as promised, the resultant crime will be beyond belief.  Further, the Islamist bent of his inner circle is a direct threat to Jewish NYCers.  They see the writing on the wall and aren’t going to stay around to be trapped it that hot mess.

Jews all over Europe were able to leave during the rise of Hitler. Many did leave. Many stayed because of business or various other reasons until it was too late. They did not believe that anything would happen to them. I am a loyal native German! Nobody will ever dare to do anything to me.

When they heard the stories and reports of what was happening elsewhere, they deliberately chose not to believe it. Oh ... those are just stories. That cannot be true. It is just propaganda.

When they heard what Hitler and the Nazis were planning, the most famous quote from so many Jews was, "Nobody could possibly be that cruel."

Thank God I do not live anywhere near New York. I am grateful that this current situation is not my problem. If I lived in NYC today, I would call relatives in the South/MidWest/SouthWest/ for a place to stay until I can figure it all out. Wyoming/Alaska always needs new people.

With a vast number of Muslim in NYC; appx. 1,000,000 or roughly 9% of the population, I have little doubt that his agenda will  be implemented.

Are you denying that the purpose of the Muslim influence that we continue to see, won't have an impact on the rest of the country and that they aren't aiming for their violent holy war??

By the way I had a Muslim nurse while I was in the hospital, she was the sweetest and most efficient nurse I had ... that doesn't equate to all Muslims being sweet and kind.

The Islamist angle is overblown.  Mamdani is an urban progressive.  He has watched other progressives step on garden rakes and he learned nothing from it.  He’s going to make it seedy like the 1970s.  One saving grace is the legislature has to approve any tax hikes.
