Atlanta, GA — Late this afternoon, members of the U.S. Marshals led Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force (SERFTF) arrested Travonte D. Griffin, 37. Griffin was wanted by the Akron Police Department for murder.
Griffin, who is currently under the supervision of federal probation for previous weapons violations, was recently identified as the suspect in the October 15, 2025, murder of Damere T. Boddie, 31. Police responded to the 500 block of Mohawk Ave in Akron and found the victim suffering from at least one gunshot wound. The victim was transported to the hospital where he later died. Griffin was identified as the shooter in that incident and a warrant was issued for his arrest. A warrant from the federal court in the Northern District of Ohio was also issued for Griffin’s arrest.
Members of the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force (NOVFTF) immediately began looking for Griffin. Recently, information was gathered by investigators here in Ohio that Griffin had fled the Akron area and was likely hiding out in Atlanta, Georgia. Information was sent to the U.S. Marshals in Atlanta who quickly acted on the case. Today, Griffin was located walking along a highway near the intersection of Ross Rd. and Stone Mountain Highway in Atlanta. Although he was arrested without, a firearm was recovered during the arrest.
Griffin will remain in local custody until he can be extradited back to northern Ohio to appear in court for the charges against him.
